We had Sunday lunch in the brasserie. Turkey "with all the trimmings" came with Yorkshire pudding, potatoes and a slab of stuffing. There was no chipolata, no bread sauce and no cranberry sauce (although available when we asked). The battered Dover sole was minuscule goujons of fish in very heavy and soggy batter. It came with mushy peas but no chips or other potatoes - it was mostly left uneaten. The third meal was roast lamb which was okay but looked, as did the turkey, as if it had been reheated in slices in the gravy. Mint sauce was provided but had to be requested. The dining room was almost empty and this was on a day when we had been unable to get a table at either William and Victorias or the Timble Inn so clearly not quiet elsewhere. Our waitress was delightful - the only beacon of light in a very lacklustre experience.

Just returned home having spent a night at The White Hart. It's in a great location for exploring Harrogate. Car Parking is at the rear of the premises.
Our room was OK with everything we needed but was in need of some updating as it was looking shabby, the bathroom was fine for our needs but again needed a bit of attention.
We ate in the restaurant with a group of friends and the meal was superb, we could not fault the quality of the food and the service was top notch. The staff are certainly a credit to the hotel as nothing was too much trouble for them.
Breakfast was very good with quality ingredients.
All in all we had a brilliant stay and would definitely return to The White Hart again if visiting Harrogate.

Had lunch in the Fat Badger before checking in - perfect bar and the choice was great, ranging from Pheasant to Bangers & Mash. Lovely atmosphere and staff were very friend and helpful.
Checked in and our room was gorgeous - 4 poster bed, spacious room and a lovely view. Bed was very comfortable too!
Staff were extremely accommodating and the whole hotel was well kept, clean and cosy.
Would definitely recommend and will be returning!

Apart from the fact that the hotel does charge for parking (compares favourably with others) we have to say that we had a really nice experience. It was quite easy to find and very easy to park the car. The staff were really nice and friendly and helpful. The room was good and comfortable and the food was great. Being in the centre of town was a great help to us and just to finish with a smile - the weather remained dry and sunny throughout!

The room was small and poky, No phone! Wifi, which these days in a modern hotel should be easy to access wasn't, and because there was no phone I had to go down to reception to obtain the access code, scrawled by reception on a piece of scrap paper. Wifi reception was very poor. The bathroom had a shower with a fixed shower head designed for someone rather short, mirror was to the left of the sink not above making shaving a challenge. No mini bar, no ironing board. All in all the decoration was tired and designed to impress but fails. Strip lighting in the room, which is a personal bete noire. I've stayed in other hotels in Harrogate that offer far better value. Shame because the rest of the hotel looks very nice.

Thank you for your valued feedback.
I understand that you stayed in one of our Badger Rooms at the hotel which are our smallest double rooms. I sincerely apologise about the fact that there was no phone in the room, this had been removed earlier on in the morning and unfortunately not replaced.
We do currently have an issue with a couple of rooms with Wifi coverage this is just due to the fact that we are a grade two listed building with thick walls and complicated layout of rooms which can hinder the signal output. However, we do currently have a company working on the upgrade of this system to try and rectify the problem.

I recently stayed for two nights at the White Hart Hotel in Harrogate, as I was part of a conference that was taking place just up the road at the Majestic Hotel.

My first thoughts when I arrived at the hotel was, wow, this is lovely and such a good location for the shops! The outside of the hotel looks just as elegant as when you step inside, where there is a high class hairdressers and quirky pub called the fat badger is attached to the hotel, which sells delicious food and was decorated beautifully for Christmas, with a elegant and yet homely atmosphere. The reception staff were attentive and friendly and allowed us use of the conference room to do some work, (with free Wifi) whilst we waited to check into our rooms. Its safe to say that the downstairs area and its grandeur set our expectations rather high, and we were looking forward to seeing our rooms, which turned out to be quite disappointing.

The room was a twin, except it was tiny and there was barely space for both of us to store away our tiny suitcases, there was a small and short wardrobe, I'm only 5ft 3 and I was taller than it, to both my and my friends amusement. The kettle didn't reach the plug unless you put it on the floor, which for some reason always tends to irritate me, the paint on the walls and the bed frame was chipping off and some of it was flecked across the pillow, the window looked out onto a view of a stone wall which made the room look rather dark and gloomy, and the overall appeal was so different to the elegance and grace of downstairs. The bathroom was cold and bland, it was clean but gave no sense of luxury, and an automatic fan was turned on as soon as you turned the light on, which was so loud and made the room chilly, the hotel boasted of expensive toiletries, which were there, but there was no way enough for a single use, let alone for two people, which once again irritates me and after seeing how our rooms turned out, we decided to spend a little time in them as possible, and as much time downstairs in nicer surroundings.

Breakfast was served in the morning in the Brasserie, which was beautifully decorated again for Christmas and was modern and light, there was fresh juices and granola and nice yoghurts, fresh coffee and a choice of cooked breakfasts, the English breakfast was lovely, with good quality sausages and perfectly cooked bacon (for my taste) although the portions were a little stingy.

Overall I would say that this hotel is a lovely place to stay, although the rooms are a little disappointing, if your looking for a nicer visit I would consider staying in a premium room, and also be careful about who you book with, a friend of mine booked the rooms for us for £100 a night, but we met some people there who had the brought the same type of room for £59 a night through laterooms, which was so frustrating! Also beware that the hotel carpark is not free! It cost £6 a night and the charge is added to your hotel bill. Although there is no swimming pool or gym at the hotel, as a guest you are allowed free us of a pool and gym that is just a short walk away (10-15 mins) it would have been nicer if it were on sight, but at least its something.

Thank you for your comments.
I can confirm that we are in the process of planning a refurbishment for the Third Floor Rooms (including the room you stayed in) at the beginning of the year to ensure that these are brought up to the same standard as the rest of the Hotel.
We have just regraded the room types in preperation for this and you will notice that we now have Badger Rooms, Standard Rooms, Superior Rooms and Executive Rooms. Our Executive Rooms are the larger rooms overlooking the Stray.
