We stayed in a room with, and I kid you not, a hospital bathroom suited for a disabled patient. The hotel used to be hospital, and they haven't bothered refurbishing the bathroom!! I have stayed at hotels across the world, and the White Hart Hotel gets the award for the most shameful bathroom on earth. Many of our friends had equally shameful rooms. Total scam!!!

Firstly It must be said that the staff are all great, very friendly, efficient ,and willing. The problem is the building and the fact that the owners appear loth to spend money on the building and fittings.
Our bedroom was so small that the bed had approx. two feet on either side, and approx three feet from the bottom to the wall; obviously no room for two chairs and a table. The bathroom was a marvel, everything crammed into the smallest room I've ever seen, my outstretched arms touched both walls! The bedroom carpet was dirty , and there was no WiFi or trouser press nor any other luxury in the room.
Dining/brake fast room , pleasant , but all tables had stained laminate tops, the tea cup was dirty and the butter dish had a broken piece of china in the butter.
The bar was first class, clean with reasonable furnishings and excellent service; bar food good.
One couple in our party refused to stay here and booked in across the road into a competitor ,and for the same money were given a suite! Other members of our party ( all seasoned travelers ) slated the bedrooms as well.
A lovely building that needs money spending to enlarge rooms and improve other areas.

Attending a wedding this looked the ideal location, public areas were very nice and service and food was of the standard expected. On arriving in room we were very disappointed as room was cold, furniture was cheap and nasty and didn't need repainting it wanted throwing out. The bathroom was old fashioned and toilet seat did not fit correctly the shower was not hot enough. the whole experience was not right for a four star hotel, every time you walked passed the reception desk somebody was complaining of something, many of the wedding guests talked of their dissappointment of their rooms, one of the many wedding guests who asked for a room change and was not satisfied with any alternative, that they checked into the crown opposite on the recommendation of reception, the room in that hotel was much bigger and very well presented all for the same price.
As I checked out and settled the bill I waited for the question I am always asked, "was everything alright for you sir" but as if they were fearful of my answer, that question was not asked.
P.S. This did not spoil a fantastic wedding at Allerton castle.

Room Tip: Find another hotel.

My husband and I stayed for one night. The 2 ladies who checked us in were very friendly and helpful. They recommended "bettys" tea room which is amazing. Harrogate is a really nice place lots of bars, restaurants and shops. The room was pleasant, shower wasn't great but was ok. We ate at the restaurant and the food was super! I would definitely recommend to eat there.

I'd like to mention how nice the staff were. There's not many places with good customer service these days but the 2 ladies who checked us in (one served us for dinner) couldn't do more to help. Thank you!

Positioned in the heart of Montpellier Quarter, this hotel is ideal for exploring Central Harrogate. The shabby chic decor is tastefully done; we stayed in the four poster bed room, which was a generous size and overlooked the Stray - fantastic way to wake up even on a bleak December morning. Hotel staff were extremely helpful and the Fat Badger pub, which is co-located, has a great atmosphere.

Lovely bedroom, although we kept walking into the bed. comfy bed, nice bathroom, great location. We came for the Christmas Market and it was right on the doorstep. Breakfast was yummy! bar was packed, we didn't have an evening meal, as it was too posh for our taste. Definitely come back though!!

Room Tip: i'm guessing one at the front, but we didn't see one with a back view, so our room was good...

Just returned from staying 1 night at The White Hart, Checked in and was shown a dreadful room on the 3rd floor, it was dreadfully decorated and battered awful cheap dark brown furniture, We could not have stayed in that room, If they could not offer a refurbished room, we would have checked out,.A room on the 2nd floor that has colour scheme of the dining room, Shabby chic, bed was creaky, grouting around the bad was disgusting, no light in hall so unable to use full length mirror, strip light over the curtains. Check if they have a wedding on, we were warned about the noise, did not hear any but sure some rooms would have. Did not like the taste of the sausage at breakfast but other wise ok, It was a worry and a disappointed start to think we were shown the worst room we have ever seen and to try to find another hotel, 4 Star dont know when or how it got this rating, would not go back.Friends changed rooms also and were not happy with their 2nd room either.Lounge is set up like old folks home. £6.00 parking.

Room Tip: Book another hotel, be careful in Harrogate heard a lot of the hotels are tired, but rely on it bein...

Thank your valued feedback all of our guests comments are taken very seriously.

We are in the process of planning a refurbishment programme for the third floor along with a maintenance programme for the second floor to which we will be look at specifically the electrics and lighting in the rooms and the positioning of furniture and mirrors

Are rooms do vary in size and décor but as you have experienced our staff will do all they can to ensure that our guests are happy with there particular rooms and if available will accommodate room moves to ensure this happens.
