We stayed in this hotel for three nights and found the hotel to be extremely poor in terms of service and value for money. When we arrived we were asked to pay for the rooms up front - and as soon as I entered the room we had been given I realised why. The bedroom itself was decorated ok but was tiny and there was barely any room for luggage. There was also no wifi connection in the room at all. And the I opened the bathroom door. The bathroom was a fully equipped disabled bathroom which frankly was extremely unpleasant. When I called reception to ask about the bathroom I was told that the building used to be owned by the NHS and some of the bathrooms had not been converted yet into hotel bathrooms. Well as far as I as aware we paid for a hotel not a hospital. They showed me another room which was rundown and damaged and looked out onto a brick wall. There were many guests staying in the hotel over that weekend that were part of the wedding party. When some of the complained about the room they were advised by the reception staff to check into The Crown over the road - a bad sign when the staff don't even vouch for the hotel. Service at breakfast was good but dinner and lunch service in the restaurant was seriously lacking, we constantly had to ask for things and appeared to have been forgotten. Overall it was a genuinely unpleasant experience, indeed I would consider it to be misleading in a sense that it advertises itself as a hotel however the rooms don't really qualify as actual hotel rooms. When another of the guest complained and asked for money back due to no hot water they were told to write a letter. I have absolutely no idea how this hotel has 4 stars - Don't give this hotel your money - stay at the Crown over the road!
