“Indifferent staff”
Reviewed 25 February 2014

I stayed at this hotel for two nights on 21.2.14, and I must say that my stay was not pleasant, my executive room ( 235 ) was located between a lift shaft and a stairwell, the room was also very dark and gloomy and was not helped by the furniture which was painted dark brown. In addition
the lighting consisted of two lamps and fluorescent strips under the curtain rail, which due to one of them flickering had to be kept off.

The room was also very cold due to the fact that the radiator did not work, I reported this but it was not dealt with, in addition the bathroom had no form of heating at all, unless you count the wall mounted hair drier with a missing hose.

The room had one of the shallowest baths I have ever seen, you could just about get your elbows wet before water went down the overflow ( and before you ask no it was not a shower tray
and I am 5'7 and 10 st ).

Apart from one member of staff in the breakfast room, I found the staff quite indifferent, I might as well have been invisible, at no time was I ever encouraged to use the hotels facilities.

In short, the room was cold, dark, small, grubby and uncomfortable and in my honest opinion the is not executive, nor is the hotel 4 star.

The hotels best feature is its location close to shops, bars and superb restaurants.

The hotel has been refurbished to a modern standard, but this is an old building that is very noisy. The decor in the bedrooms is pretty but not hotel proof as some knobs off drawers etc. The bedroom doors are not very robust or secure and creaking floor boards mean you can hear your neighbours nocturnal loo trips etc! Left early feeling tired rather than refreshed. Staff very friendly but hotel needs some structural investment not just pretty furniture.

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in in my life, the room we where allocated (203) was A small box type room with a disabled type bathroom. The shower is tiny - almost impossible to shower in and the room over all is unkept. We told them how unhappy we were and how the photos did not represent the room in any way. We asked for an upgrade at our expense and we're turned down. Very unhelpful. Do not stay at this hotel it is that bad the staff do not care at all and the standard of accommodation on the whole is in my opinion not of 4star quality more like a good 2star at best

Stayed for 1 night as a Birthday treat in room 318 and was very happy with the accommodation, the location and the price we paid. Room was cool but soon warmed up when we turned up the radiator, everything was clean the bed and pillows were lovely and comfy. The breakfast was good with plenty of choice and the Fat Badger bar was very busy, not over priced with a good atmosphere.
We will definitely stay here again as it is only a short walk to town centre and secure undercover parking for only 6 pounds.

Stayed for 1 night and paid £53. We were in room 316 which was a bit dated and slightly cold but turned up the radiator, had a hot bath and was fine. King size comfy bed, large soft towels and for what we paid it was a bargain. Nice staff and would definitely stay again

The WhiteHart Hotel is in a very good position in town , very close to all Harrogate's attractions. The exterior is what you would expect, amazing Victorian architecture. Our room number 224 was on the second floor. Which at first was a bit difficult to find as it was signed to be along the corridor but was in fact down a small side corridor. The room décor was nice but the room was slightly on the small side but more than adequate. Housekeeping of the room was very good. Bathroom was very spacious the only concern was from my wife who did not like the fact there was no blind or curtain on the window, just frosted glass and as it was overlooked by other windows privacy could be a problem for some. I did mentioned this to the receptionist on leaving so maybe the issue will get addressed.
Breakfast was very good indeed with a buffet for cereals croissant's fruits etc, and a full menu with poached haddock, salmon, kippers etc as well as the traditional English fare, all provided by a waiter service. All staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful, so all in all a very pleasant stay was had indeed
I would also recommend eating in the Fat Badger Brassiere in the hotel the food is excellent especially the lemon sole, delicious. Could be a bit pricey though, but fortunately for us they had a winter sale on which gave 50% off the total food and drinks bill. Bargain

Room Tip: We stayed in room 224, which did not have much of a view, but was at the rear, so it was nice and qu...

we stayed at the White Hart Hotel for two nights Feb 13th- 14th 2014, We found the room to be of a poor standard due to poor quality sheets covering the bed one with a small hole in it and marks to the sheet also. The bathroom had not covering to the window and was over looked offering no privacy at all. The door lock to the room was of poor quality and needed to be checked on leaving and entering the room as it would not lock automatically when closing.
Then on leaving I discovered damage to my car door where some inconsiderate person creased my door panel with their car door leaving me with a very expensive repair ill for a BMW.
The parking spaces are very narrow offering little room to get in and out of your car with no supervision over who comes and goes. The Tranters

I am so sorry that there was an issue with your linen at the Hotel I can assure you that this is not our usual standard at all and has been raised with our Head Housekeeper to discuss with our linen supply company. We would have been more than happy to replace these for you had it been brought to our attention and can only sincerely apologise that this was not picked up by the staff member who made your bed.

We do have unusual locks on the door that are not self locking like a Yale lock but need to be manual locked prior to leaving, we have considered replacing them with the new electronic card locks but as of yet the old fashioned key still seems to be winning, this way our Reception staff get to meet and greet you all as you come and go throughout the day - something I feel seems to be missing when there is no need to collect your key at Reception, they can take a bit of getting used to and we have placed the instructions on the key fob to assist our guests.
