Pending a visit to Harrogate my wife noticed a 'bargain break' on a Saga leaflet, offering an evening meal with a bottle of Prosecco, bed and breakfast at less than £100 for two people which sounded extremely good value..
However a 'standard ' room at the 'deal price' was apparently not available, so we paid an extra £30 for a 'superior' room which turned out to be not very superior!. The room was reasonable in size, but the small window looked straight out at another, and very close, building, the glass cover on the dressing table was badly cracked and the room's decoration rather 'tired' - leaving one to wonder what the 'standard' rooms might have been like!.
In many ways the deal proved to be extremely good ... the staff, both in reception and in the restaurant, were very pleasant, attentive and helpful, the menu offered a reasonable variety of choice and the food was cooked and presented well, and we had an enjoyable stay - such a pity that the 'superior' room failed to be 'superior'!.

Room Tip: Avoid the rooms at the back, and aim for one that looks out over the gardens at the front of the Hot...

On our recent first trip to Harrogate my wife and I chose The White Hart mainly for its central location. It soon became apparent that we'd made the correct decision. Our room was faultless and the view tremendous. The hotel's bar, known as the Fat Badger, had a wonderful traditional feel about it and the patio area was much appreciated. The food being served looked very appetizing, but we chose to eat in the restaurant and were treated to some of the best hotel food we have had for a long time. The staff were all friendly and being mainly locals they were able to point us in the right direction for the best of Harrogate (of course including Bettys). Overall we believe The White Hart to be one of the best value hotels we have ever stayed at.

Room Tip: Ask for a front-facing room if possible

A pleasant break with great front of house staff....rooms ok though no extractor caused some dissatisfaction!!! Breakfast was uncooked and waiters need training...shame great potential to be a star in Harrogate!

The service I received here was absolutely exceptional. We came as a party of 4 for my birthday, and used the dinner bed and breakfast option. I contacted the hotel in advance of our stay because I am a vegan, and the dinner menu did not have any vegan options. They asked me what I would ideally have, and I told then. When we arrived we were told the chef had prepared exactly what I had asked for, which was fantastic! The meal was excellent, we had a 3 course dinner and we were all very happy, and impressed with our meals, and also with the brasserie itself and wonderfully attentive staff.

The hotel rooms are a little shabby and outdated, but the hotel's location makes a wonderful base for exploring Harrogate, and provides a wonderful dinner and breakfast with great service.

The breakfast was great, with a small buffet of fresh fruit, pastries and yogurt, and the additional option to order a cooked breakfast of either salmon with scrambled eggs, kippers, or a traditional cooked breakfast with all the trimmings. Breakfast is in the brasserie, and lovely and relaxed and peaceful. Again, we all found something delicious that suited our tastes.

Despite the rooms being a little disappointing (we had a broken bed, and the bathroom was undesirable), I would definitely go back for another dose of The White Hart, and would definitely have all of my meals here again, as they were outstanding! Many thanks to the chef who prepared my vegan feast- it was exceptional!

Room Tip: Make sure you get the dinner bed and breakfast option, food here is exceptional

Stayed here this weekend with a friend and have nothing but praise. The room was on the small side, but nice decor, very comfortable beds and a very powerful over bath shower. The staff were all very helpful and friendly and the meals were excellent,( would definitely recommend the large fish and chips).Meals in the dining room were very efficiently served by very pleasant staff, in particular a very nice young lady called Sylvia. I will definitely stay again and wouldnt hesitate to recommend this hotel .Thank you for a very pleasant stay.

Stayed overnight on 26th June. Looks grand and impressive from outside but it has a very oppressive atmosphere on entering the small reception area. Views didn't change when we went to our room. Whilst we had clean bedding and towels and complimentary miniature shampoos, tea and coffee etc,the room was very depressing and to cap it all,the view was terrible....a window with a turreted wall right in front of it!!! We had to stand on tip toes to view what bit of the outside we could see. Bed very uncomfortable too. All in all, this hotel needs money spending on it to bring it up to the standard it probably once was.

Room Tip: Try to request a room that at least has a decent view and not a wall.

Room was fine considering the price of £60. Large bedroom and bathroom. Had to pay for parking which is never a good thing albeit it was only £5. Staff friendly. Lollipop found stuck to the carpet under the bed. Blurrgggh!
