Visited Lucia on a Bank holiday Sunday, there was a really good atmosphere with great music and decor. The food was mostly good, my wife's starter was a bit bland but the rest was very good. One thing to recommend are the cocktails, they are top notch and nearly all under a fiver. All in all a great place for something to eat in a cool atmosphere.

One of the best places in harrogate. A little bit out but not far walk from the town centre. Enjoyed a meal and cocktails. Brilliant prices and fantastic food. 100% recommend. Unsure why there are negative reviews! No where is perfect, but this place isn't far from it :) would recommend for all wether that be for drinks or food. Would highly recommend the rainbow cocktail! Also get a table outside what ever the weather. Shame they don't take table bookings under eight people.

If, like us, you have been to the Lucia in York and loved it, and thought the new one in Harrogate will be just as good - you will be sadly disappointed.
However if you have not been to Lucia in York or Beverley you will probably think Lucia's in Harrogate is good - but trust me, its not up to their usual standard. We loved York, but Harrogate is nearer so we were really keen to try it when it recently opened - oh dear, what a let down.

I'll let you make your own mind up, but here's why we didn't like it.
The large area in front of it that looks like a car park is not - it is a "drop off point"! So firstly you have to find a car park space nearby; and since most of it is a residential area with disc only parking you will end up parking in the town centre and walking back to Lucia's; which is fine if its a nice evening, but yesterday was the untypical August heavy showers; so for convenient parking = nil points.
We found service was okay, shown to a table promptly, staff were courteous and helpful. The menu appears the same as the Lucia York one but that is where the similarity ends.
I ordered Linguini Roma (seafood with pasta), my girlfriend had Risotto Lucia (rice with chorizo sausage and crayfish tails). Flavour acceptable, but in no way fantastic like the many dishes we have eaten during our multiple visits to Lucia York. The portions were also significantly smaller. But the biggest let down was the cocktails. York's Lucia's has a cocktail lounge, Harrogates does not, but the cocktails served at Yorks restaurant are fantastic, and as good as the ones served in their cocktail lounge. However the cocktails served in Harrogate's Lucia restaurant, despite being the same price, are abysmal. The Raspberrylicious was 95% crushed ice, and despite the pint size glass, it took less than 5 minutes to slowly drink the actual liquid in it, leaving a pint full of crushed ice (not ice cubes - actual crushed clear ice) The mocktails were not much better. We thought it might be a one off, so chose a simple cocktail which did not have crushed ice as one of the ingredients. We asked for an long island iced tea but with no ice, the waitress returned to us with the comments that we had to have ice because it is part of the cocktail (interesting - if I go abroad and ask for a cocktail with no ice - its no problem - but in my own country I MUST have ice!) When the long island iced tea arrived, it had clearly been prepared by someone who thinks a cocktail must look good rather than actually taste of anything. It was the worst long island tea I have ever tasted, and believe me I have drunk a lot of them!
As the rain lashed down outside, and flooded all the external balcony, tables and seats we could gaze out through the large panoramic windows at a main road with queuing traffic - majestic!
We asked for the bill - not bad at circa £30.
Not a memorable event for the right reasons.
Would we go back there again - No. Unless they move the cocktail bartenders and chefs from York to Harrogate - but why spoil something that is near perfect.
Lucia in Harrogate is a Lucia by name only, other than the same menu it bears no resemblance to Lucia's in York.
If you have been to Lucia's in Harrogate and were disappointed - don't let it put you off trying the ones in York or Beverley.

Thank you for leaving us a review. i am very disappointed to hear of your experience in Harrogate.
As you are aware our Harrogate Lucia is fairly new, we are trying our best to work through any minor problems we may be experiencing at the moment.
We are unable to provide car parking facilities as the front of the restaurant is a through-way to the very small shared car park at the rear, so i do apologise for this.
If ever you are not 100% satisfied with food you have been presented with, we are always more than happy to exchange or replace an item immediately without hesitation, so please never leave unsatisfied.
I am unsure why your cocktails weren't up to the usual standard but i will pass this to the relative department and find out what happened but please except our apology. As you know delicious food and great cocktails are very important to us, so please bare with us while we perfect this.
We understand you are one of our regular customers and would hate for you to be putt off by this one occasion, i hope this hasn't affected your view of Lucia.
we hope to see you again,

All the staff who dealt with us were friendly and very efficient. The restaurant was busy but with a positive buzz. The food came very promptly and was really good. Nothing was too much trouble for our waitress and we would go back there without the slightest hesitation. We eat out a lot in both the UK and other parts of Europe and the experience at Lucias compares very well indeed.
