We loved the atmosphere of the place and the service was great! However, the food sadly did not live up to our expectations. The duck leg was heavy and tasteless, sauce/gravy was bland, and the vegetables (carrots, broccoli, and green beans) were boring. The pork tenderloin looked promising, but was also bland. The saving grace was dessert--the Black Forest chocolate brownie with cherry ice cream was delicious! The place was full, so they must be doing something right! Perhaps we just chose the wrong items from the menu!

Have already written a glowing review for this hotel on Trip Advisor. Could not fault the food, nor the service. Meals well presented. Good breakfast with plenty of choice.

We booked a table 8pm and were told on arrival that the table was not ready, we didn't mind having a drink whilst we waited but we weren't seated until 8.30 which was disappointing (a free drink at least would have appeased)

Despite being advertised as a 'summer menu' the food was very much geared towards winter, all very heavy meat and 2 veg type meals, I get the feeling that the menu hasn't changed in years (or decades!)

My chicken goujon starter was burnt and uninspired, our main courses of lamb and pork looked very similar and came out with more or less the same sauce!

Not once were we asked how our starters or mains were, and the plates were whisked away before I'd even put my cutlery back down!

Overall it's no better than ok, it felt dated and uninspired, we felt like we'd gone back in time, there's plenty of better places to eat in Harrogate.

Came upon the place by accident and liked the look-what a bonus!
£21 a head,2 course menu and spoilt for choice. The pork was excellent and partner said the same of the salmon, a nice wine topped it off along with the service.
Thank you.
