Groupon voucher for afternoon tea with spa access with pre-booked massage was wonderful. Booked 2 twin rooms for the night and upon arrival got upgraded to suites. The rooms were great including villerory and boch tea/coffee china and spa products in the bathroom. Amazed that the DB&B rate included the full menu rather than table d'ote. I had warm hoi sin duck bean sprout salad followed by slow cooked lamb and fat chips with mint gravy - the presentation was astounding. We were a little too full to fit in our puds but upon enquiring we were able to take them back to our room(s) for later. Breakfast was equally great. The hotel itself from the exterior and surrounding area is not pretty but don't let that put you off -inside is totally different. Nb the spa charge £5 for robe and towel hire so take your own and flip flops if desired

We stayed 2 nights at the Gloucester hallmark! Firstly the leisure centre and pool area was not clean at all! Filthy marks and stains that had obviously not been cleaned in a long time and also at the side of the pool was an open bag of chlorine just left there whilst young children were around! Also I recommend restaurant staff more training, 15 minutes after being seated and still no drinks order, when we eventually gave our drinks and food order the starter came before our drinks did. On a plus I cannot fault the food or its quality and value for money! Treatment area was very dated and a rug just thrown over ripped furniture and also considering there is a sign on the wall asking for silence to respect people's treatment sessions, on the other side of the wall is a squash court wiv the constant thumping of the ball on the wall! Breakfast, next to the food (which was very tough and had been sitting there a while) was a bin the was overflowing and had been walked past by staff without notice at least a dozen times. The room was very nice and can't fault the style and comfort however the party function room is right underneath all the rooms which is very noisy and disturbing until early hours. Overall I think a hotel that promotes rest and relaxation is anything but that! I felt very cheated and mislead and definitely will not be returning!!!!

Positives

Hotel rooms were reasonably spacious and clean
Weekend staff were extremely good, friendly and helpful
Spa was fine ... Not plush, but it was decent. Gym felt comfortable, unlike some quite small gyms in other hotels.
Free wi-fi

Negatives

Walls are thin. You can hear doors slam and people talking in the hallways - (If you are a light sleeper) - this can be disturbing.
Late checkouts are an extra £15.00 ... And checkouts are at 11pm, so this can mean a rush to get out if holidaying / coming to enjoy the spa.

Overall the breakfast was standard fare, nothing flash, but more than decent.

10 mins from Gloucester and 25 mins from Cheltenham (both by car).

Overall I would say this is a nice hotel to choose to stay in.

My sister and I had a wonderful day at the hotel. The staff were friendly and everything was clean. The pool was a great temperature and there was plenty of room for swimming or hanging around by the side of the pool without being in anyones way.
The afternoon tea was the best part for me. Lots of yummy sandwiches and cakes with enough tea to last.
The staff made us feel welcome and treatest us with the utmost courtesy,

Bought a groupon deal for spa and afternoon tea. Arriving in the pool area we were confronted by a lady in the jacuzzi with cleaning fluid and scrubbing brush to say shocked was an understatement.
While swimming we were pulling out bits of fluff and hair out if pool so got out and showered as felt dirty. At the same time there was baby and toddler swimming class going on. The sauna and steam room where like to brick sheds with shower between which was also dirty looking up there was a vent above full of dust and fluff!
The gym is well equipped but small so have to wait to use certain items. The plus point was the beauty salon where we had a neck, back and shoulder massage which was very very good.
I think the leisure facilities need a good clean and revamp.

Thank you for your feedback, it is always helpful when we receive useful and constructive reviews. We do have a regular cleaning schedule (as you can see by the team member cleaning the spa pool) I am sorry if some aspects were not up to your expectations.

Nice hotel, friendly staff, nice pool and spa area. Me and my partner stayed at this lovely hotel during the weekend. We picked this hotel for a last minute weekend break as we had heard nice things about Gloucester in the past. The hotel is just a 10 minute drive or taxi ride from the city centre. Unfortunately we were surprised to find very little to do there, and had great difficulty finding somewhere to eat that evening, We eventually found a nice little Italian, but there wasn't a particular area where pubs restaurants were located. I don't want this to detract from the hotel as we had no complaints, the staff were very helpful and polite, the bedroom was very comfortable, and breakfast was also nice. However, I would not recommend this for a weekend break if you wanted to see the local area. Would recommend somewhere around Cheltenham instead which is around 30 minutes away.

So my friend and I decided to book a last minute overnight stay at this hotel to get a way from city life and relax in a spa. We found the deal on last minute.com which promised access to spa facilities including pool, lazy river, sauna and steam room. Upon our arrival we hurried into our swimwear to make the most of the facilities before closing time only to be confronted with what appeared to be a pool with a few dying jacuzzis dotted around and two sheds housing the steam room and sauna. I'd seen better facilities at local leisure centre. A spa this was not. We spent half an hour in there before deciding to leave but not before we'd had a go on the lazy river; a gentle flow of stream that helps you swim faster in a circle around the central most powerful jacuzzi. Overall the facilities were dull, uninspiring and felt a little dirty. Definitely in need of a refurb. The hotel on the other hand was clean but equally mediocre with a consistent trend of displaying images of glasses of wine on the walls. The restaurant/ bar seemed to pride itself in its extensive wine list .... A running theme throughout the hotel with its Rioja splashed walls. We found solitude in a nearby village called painswick which I would urge anyone to visit. Overall, despite the hotels immediate surroundings being slightly depressing it is minutes away in the car from the beautiful countryside of the Cotswolds. Staff were friendly, breakfast average and the hair dryer in the bedroom only blew cold air. £50 deal on last minute.com.....lesson learnt.
