Having booked & confirmed two rooms for my two adult children and partners visiting UK from Canada to attend a wedding, I was telephoned twice in Canada from Gloucester to confirm their intended time of arrival time. With both calls I confirmed they would be arriving late & IBIS accepted this.
On arrival, my family were told the IBIS was overbooked and were accommodated in an apartment, a personal 18mile drive away at night in Cheltenham, with no facilities to call home.

Sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your stay at Ibis Gloucester. Unfortunetley we had a problem at the hotel and had to book somebody out to another hotel. We paid in full for the rooms in Cheltenham and paid travel costs, once again i am sorry Kind regards, Nicola Moir, General Manager

Does what's required....reasonably priced and good quality accommodation. I needed a bed for an overnight stop off, and this was perfect for that.

As others have said, it's a very new hotel, so is in excellent condition, clean and tidy and plenty of free parking.

I didn't eat or drink there, so can't comment on the food or drink quality.

We had 2 rooms ,1 twin and one double, the hotelwas easy to find and clearly brand new ,clean and the staff were very keen to be of service. We arrived at 10.30 but on request we were allowed to check in early which was a big help as we would be going straight to Cheltenham and not returning till late in the evening.Unfortunately wefound only one pillow on each of the single beds which is inadequate and only found a further pillow next morning ,apart from that the room was good value at £49.00 for a saturday night.Breakfast at £7.50 was disappointing and probably showed a little inexperience
but this shouild improve with time .All in all good value and a pleasant enviorenment

I stayed at this hotel with my partner en-route from the North West to Tiverton, the hotel is a typical Ibis, so if you are used to the brand you will have a good idea about the hotel already. It is located close to junction 11 of the M5 and next to a main A road in to Gloucester. You can't miss the hotel from the A road as it is quite tall! The hotel is across from a McDonalds and a large carpark is found at the rear.

The hotel is a new build and it shows, everything is clean and shiny, the reception area is quite big and also houses the bar/restaurant, internet kiosks and ground floor disabled rooms.

Our room was a double on the 4th floor, which in reality must be the 6th floor of the building. The room offered views across to the M5 (though far enough away you could not hear it) and the surrounding hills. The room is a standard (though very nice) Ibis room. Large double bed, little sofa, small desk, shelves and flat screen tv. The bathroom is a good size, and follows on from the Ibis 'pod' theme. More importantly it has a good strong shower!!

We arrived late and left in the morning, so did not make use of the bar/restaurant facilities. Though the restaurant did look to have a decent size menu.

There were only a couple of minor negative's we had was the length of time it took to check-in. To be fair to the hotel they had two coach groups staying, who all seemed to be in the bar when we checked in. So the staff were busy. That said, there was only one member of staff on reception checking in new guests. The second was the in-room air conditioning. The unit had a dial to set temperatures from 15-30 degrees, we could not get the system to activate below 25 degrees to cool the room. I know we could have queried this and maybe moved to a different room, but as we arrived late (after 10.30pm) we just opened a window!

Only minor niggles, and one's I would not allow to put me off staying again or recomending to friends! For those on long motorway journeys to the south west, it is an ideal hotel for that stopover!

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor room facing away from the road, this side faces the car park and a leisure foot...

Avoid this place at all costs. Staff at evening reception were nice and helpful, but on arrival they were quite rude. The rooms were clean but clinical, and the bed was the most awful bed we have ever slept in; the pillows leftover shoulder pads. Don't expect a good night's sleep. It might be cheap, but you don't quite get what you pay for.

Room Tip: Go elsewhere.

Having never stayed at an Ibis before I was a little wary of what to expect, especially given the cheap price I had paid. We didn't arrive till 11pm at night but the check in was swift, friendly and efficient. We weren't planning on returning to the bar but as there were several people sat around drinking and chatting we headed back down after dropping our bags in our room. The drinks were good and very reasonably priced for a hotel. Our room was a little smaller than when we have stayed at other budget chains but it was perfectly adequate and well equipped. The bathroom "pod" was great and the shower really powerful with constant hot water. Most importantly the room was perfectly clean. We loved the airy feel of the corridors and reception. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We will definitely stay with Ibis in the future.

A good budget hotel for a one night stay only. The single beds are only about 24 inches wide (60 cm) - more of a childs bed really and really low to the ground. Turn over and you'd fall out, so didn't make for a restful night !!. Staff at reception were okay. They have a book out time of 12 midday, but still the cleaners knocked the door at 9am !!, albeit there was a 'do not disturb' sign left out. Room had a good bathroom though - like an enclosed 'pod'.

Room Tip: Really only suitable for a one night stay
