I needed accommodation in Gloucester quickly, and laterooms.com directed me to this fine B&B. It was spotless and very comfortable with a friendly and helpful proprietor and excellent breakfast with a great choice and lots of good coffee! The quiet rural location just outside the city made for a restful night. HIghly recommended. The entrance gate is easy to miss so drive slowly as you approach!

Room Tip: Rooms at back away from main road are probably quietest.

I spend the night here en route through Gloucester and had a wonderful stay. The Host and Hostess were magnificent, very friendly and talkative while still giving me plenty of time to myself and to rest. I was particularly charmed by their walled in garden to the side of the property. There were benches and chairs and I even got the wifi on my laptop out there from the house, so I could sit in the sun, out in the garden and catch up on everything. Very impressed. There was ample parking space off-road too which is a bonus to any establishment in the UK.
The room was clean and well-furnished, the ensuite small but perfectly suitable without being cramped. I stayed on the second floor off to the side and had a lovely view of the surrounding countryside and the oncoming side of the road. I didn't even notice the sound of traffic, and slept like a dream.
Breakfast was full English with a wide choice range and cooked so fresh it still steamed when put in front of me. Really everything was perfectly catered for and while they're 5-10 minutes outside of Gloucester that's a tiny price to pay for such excellent service and a comfortable night's stay. I'd gladly spend the night there again. The small sitting room was cosy and there were even a few books on the shelves if I'd got bored. Excellent value for money and I was really impressed. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Room Tip: The view from the second floor was amazing and either the extra height or the side-facing on the bui...

Spent a few days here with my husband. A little way out of Gloucester but a lovely base for seeing the surrounding area. We stayed for four nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. The rooms were clean and well appointed. Mine host and his wife were most welcoming and helpful. Food was marvellous and we both felt very welcome there.

We enjoyed our stay at Brookthorpe Lodge very much. Robert was very helpful and kind. His advice on what to see, where to go and where to eat was very useful. The family room was clean and spacious and had everything we needed. Breakfast was great. It was nice to have the possibility of spending some time in the garden and in the sitting-room extra provided for the guests. Reasonable prices. Thanks for everything!

We loved the country location and views but also proximity to Gloucester and surrounds (including lovely pub for dinner within walking distance including a big park area for the kids), property features and design, family room including en suite, great parking and grass area for the kids to run around and relax in after a big drive and friendly host. Breakfast was to die for one of the best I have had in the UK!

Room Tip: The family room on the road was extremely noisy with cars being heard clearly until 10.30pm as we ha...

I visited with my father who has some mobility and sight difficulties and Rob couldn't have been more helpful and flexible, both when originally booking and when we arrived. Our rooms were quite different but suited us both very well. Breakfast was plentiful and very tasty, everything was extremely clean, beds very comfortable. Highly recommended.

We felt very welcome by the owner, Robert, right from the start. Location is good if you want to be in a secluded area, which was great for us. Robert was very helpful in informing us of things to do and gave us the right amount of space for us to settle in. Good old full english breakfast and quaint room. Only improvement would be to re-furb the bathroom as was quite small.
