Description: The country pub in the city centre. We are a city center pub, tucked away from the high street down a passage way that opens onto a courtyard. We serve real ales and fresh home cooked food. The building is Grade II Listed with exposed oak beams and a carved stone, open fire place.

Have been a few times for a beer and always said I would eat there finally did and it was excellent. Sea Bass for me a chilli and rice and potato and pea pie for my companions all were brilliant as were the hand pulled beers. The building is an ancient Inn and full of character nice courtyard and city centre location

We had a great meal at the Fountain. I had the Sea Bass special meal and my husband had gammon. Staff very friendly and the weather was lovely and lots of people were sitting outside.

Popped in as was recommended as a place which was children friendly. Quiet, tucked away off one of Gloucester's pedestrian areas. Very good food, lots on the plate, great choice of real ales, friendly staff. Would come here again.

Having recently spent a few days in Gloucester, I have to say it is very difficult to find a good pub to eat in, and this was easily the best I came across. The ale is outstanding, and the food is okay, but comes in enormous portions. Honestly, just order a sandwich or a light bite. I say this as a large man with a big appetite.

The pub is a bit scruffy, but then so was every other pub I found in Gloucester city centre. At least this one does a good pint of beer. It's a pleasant place to sit and drink, and the building is historic and full of character. An interesting pub, but could be a great one with a few changes.
