“Always something missing”
Reviewed 11 May 2014

I visit Daylesford every time I visit the Cotswolds.
The concept is great at Daylesford, clean and well designed
The food is generally an 8/10, however I always leave thinking they miss the mark.
My last visit was the same, wine glass never filled correctly (volume too low - as I checked the other glasses of diners)
Forgot to bring my espresso until I reminded the server.
So no real big problems but always something.
As I live in NY I always dislike that some British restaurants charge for bread and never offer water, but again minor stuff
It's definitely worth the visit but expect a few issues.

“love this place1”
Reviewed 4 May 2014

We've been here a couple of times, unfortunately only during the day, and we love it. Yes, the food in the shop is pricey but come on, you come here for a bit of luxury! We've eaten lunch and had tea, most recently at Easter, and its standards remain as high as ever, both in the food served and in the food, drink and house stuff you can buy in the shop. It's the sort of place that makes you want to move to the Cotswolds! Unless you're a bore with a serious chip on your shoulder, just come and enjoy it.

“Amazing farm fresh food”
Reviewed 4 May 2014

This cafe is open on Friday and Saturday evenings and the place is transformed from a busy cafe to a lovely dining spot in the Cotswolds. The place is lit with candles and hurricane lamps and the attention to detail is second to none. There is no where else ( besides Chateau de Villars in France) I know that checks the height of the blinds on the setting sun so as not cause a glare when eating for its patrons. Now to the food. The USP of this cafe is its wood burning oven so the food on offer has that lovely wood smoked subtle flavour. I opt for the steak each time or the oven roasted chicken but last night one of us had the pork. These meats are served with fresh garden greens and roast potatoes. Seafood and fish is always on offer too as well as other specials each week. The place is not overly expensive for a dinner out and the dress code is smart casual. The service is impeccable and I have no qualms being charged the 10% service charge on the bill. Its worth trying this out this cafe for supper /dinner if your are weekending in the area or have the great pleasure of living near by like we do.

“Reliable quality of seasonal food...”
Reviewed 26 April 2014

We love being able to find seasonal foods and when you find a restaurant that ONLY cooks and serves seasonal foods that is extra special...the fact that it is also all organic and the supply chain is transparent only adds to the experience...the breadth of choice is not huge but the quality of cooking is always very good and you can watch it all happen right in front of you with an open front kitchen that encourages all ages to see it happen. Sadly it can be a bit of a job getting a reservation during peak periods but weekend evenings and weekdays are usually OK...and don't forget to leave some time for a quick trip around the 'posh' farm shop - their organic creamy Milk is best value - actually cheaper than Coop. However the big drawback is that they don't extend their WiFi for public use...I;d use the place a lot more for weekday business meetings/ luncheons if they did !

“Not so good with the hygiene”
Reviewed 23 April 2014 via mobile

Having lunch this week ,I watched the chef carry two boxes of logs to stoke his wood oven then a box of charcoal and stoke his grill, dropping his tea towel onto the floor, just picking it up tucking it into his apron, and then start laying plates and dressing them with salad leaves, all this without washing his hands! Not good enough,
The salmon was quite nice but the potato wedges where over cooked and running with fat, all in all very poor, the trio of salad was fine, not sure about the salad leaves!!!!
