We had a very good stay at The Edward (2 nights). The room was both comfortable and well serviced. The breakfast was good quality, with any request no problem. The management and staff were both pleasant and helpful.

The hotel is within walking distance of the city attractions and there is parking. Not the best area of Gloucester but it is well located. Staff very welcoming and helpful. Rooms comfortable. Lots of steps/stairs but this provides the unique atmosphere of this old house. Breakfast good. Lots of information about attractions and eating out places. Our double room overlooked the back and was quiet. For £65-00 per night this was very reasonable and good value for the money

Room Tip: chose a room overlooking the back away from the road.

The Edward is situated about 20 mins walk from the town centre. It is in a listed building comprising three terraced houses knocked together. Our room was well appointed with everything we might want at a very reasonable price of about £65 for a superior double. Good fittings. Nice bed canopy. Some interesting architectural details including little lions on the door frame! Check in girl very helpful. Easy parking around the back and free Wi-Fi. Not luxurious but very comfortable small hotel. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Superior Double Was Most Acceptable! Try the Connoisseur Tandoori at 22-24 London road about 5 minut...

Our twin room on the top floor was adequate but very tired furniture. The chair was badly stained. The bathroom badly needed refurbishing. A stained toilet seat and cracked washbasin are not acceptable. Good welcome from owners and good breakfast. The area is really grotty, with a depressing walk into Gloucester which was a great disappointment.
We had booked another date here but have cancelled. We think that we are better off spending a bit more, for less shabby accomodation.

From the website this looked like a really nice place to stay for a couple of nights but on checking in and finding our way to the room it became apparent this was a budget hotel!
The room was tired and the decor and furnishings should have been thrown away years ago, poor quality workmanship and poor cleanliness throughout.
If your looking for somewhere nice to stay I'd look somewhere else!

We stayed for one night in Room 8, which is one of the better rooms. It was a reasonable size with a large bed (2 singles locked together). The shower room was ok and the room was clean and was at the back of the building away from the busy road at the front. However, the walls are rather thin and neighbours talking/ watching television until the early hours could be easily heard.
Nevertheless, at £70 for a double room and a good full English cooked breakfast, this was good value. The centre of Gloucester is a 10 minute walk, with the new dockside area a further 10 minutes or so.
