Description: Portivo Lounge is an informal, neighbourhood food led cafe/bar open all-day everyday where families, friends, and locals can come for a coffee, a drink, or something to eat in a relaxed comfortable environment. The Lounge menu is available all-day and offers a wide range of dishes including an extensive brunch menu, a selection of proper-job burgers, a great selection of tapas & more restaurant-in-style monthly specials. There is an extensive selection of coffee/tea, cakes and pastries, smoothies and fresh juice, and a small selection of wines, draught beers & cocktails. The interiors are comfortable, inviting, and a bit eccentric. The photos, a great majority of which feature Dave's (co-founder) grandparents, are weird and slightly unnerving! We've got a variety of board games available for either children or adults, daily newspapers to read, a kids menu, highchairs & a free neighbourhood book swap (bring an old book & swap it with a book in the bookcase). Think of us as your home-from-home.

“Couldn't fault it”

Excellent menu, with great choices for adults but also some brilliant lunchtime meals perfect for kids too. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal & drinks & can't think of anywhere else in Glos that even comes close for choice, atmosphere, service and value.

“clean restaurant, good food”
Reviewed 20 January 2014

Went here for my birthday tea with hubby and 6 year old son. We were offered a child's menu and drawing implements right away, impressed. Quick service. Very clean restaurant and bar, clean toilets. Not a extensive or exciting menu choice otherwise would have given higher grading. We chose to come here as liked the shabby chic décor, plus its got nearby parking and is situated on Gloucester Quays. Staff clean, friendly and efficient. The wc's are up two long flights of stairs so beware if you've had a few drinks! teehee. I had rib eye steak £16.50 which was the dearest item on the menu. Several meals for around the £10 price, childs meal was £4.95 which included a drink. Its not over priced here. The food was nice, hot and well presented. I wish the menu was a bit more varied as several of the meals were more snacky than dinner and a lot of pork dishes which we don't eat. But apart from that its a good place to eat and we shall return. Order your meals at the bar and give table number, you have the option to pay in full then or leave your credit card behind the bar for a tab. We opted to pay in full each time as don't like to leave an open credit card anywhere!

“Lounge eggs (eggs Benedict)”
Reviewed 19 January 2014 via mobile

Nice food but my poached eggs were not runny and the chorizo sausage wasn't fried to my liking so it was a bit chewy. Was not asked by the waitress if the food is ok as well and because was in hurry didn't complain. Otherwise I would :)

“Friendly staff and good food”
Reviewed 19 January 2014 via mobile

Staff were really friendly and helpful, even on a busy Saturday - so much so that we came back the next morning for brunch. The food is pretty good - certainly better than most of the cafés in the area.

“Well deserved lunch”
Reviewed 18 January 2014

We were starving after an extended shopping trip with 14yr old so decided to treat ourselves to lunch, I had heard good things about Portivo so thought we'd give it a try. It was a Saturday afternoon and busy but we found ourselves a table. You order at the bar with your table number and they were quite up front about there being a 30 min wait for food - with this in mind we added on an extra bowl of caramalised onion unts to nibble on. We found that iced water and glasses are put out to help yourself to which meant we hadn't guzzled our drinks before the food arrived. Good for us as cut costs and nice to think they are not just trying to screw every penny out of us! Our daughter went for the all day veggie breakfast which was massive and contained a huge number of different items including wilted spinach and hummus! Daughter enjoyed it and worked her way through the whole plate although I admit to eating the spinach and the mushrooms. I had a felafel burger which came with fries and salad, tasty and a bit spicy and husband ate the salmon and crayfish burger, very meaty, solid and delicious.
The place has been done up in a very eclectic "retro" style with industrial items mixed with 50's art (a huge portrait of Lenin on the stairs!) which gave us lots to look at and talk about while we waited for food. Staff friendly and helpful and the whole place had a relaxed atmosphere.
Definately a place I would recommend - the only reason I am not giving 5 stars is that an element was missing from the veggie breakfast and we had to ask for it - it was delivered separately and quickly and if I could just have taken off half a star I would!
