We had Sunday Lunch too and I agree with the previous persons comments. Tina is fabulous and is always very welcoming. I go to The Barge at least once a week.

We have used this restaurant on many occasions over the past year and todays lunch came up to the normal high standard that we have come to expect. My wife had turkey and I had beef both were accompanied by a lovely selection of fresh vegetables with roasted and new potatoes. We followed the mains with a delicious summer fruit crumble and a pineapple upside down sponge covered with lashings of custard the size of which was enough to satisfy the heartiest of appetites. Our hostess was her normal bubbly self and as usual made us feel very welcome. All in all great value for money and we'll definitely be back for another enjoyable experience

I had heard several excellent reviews and was looking forward to my meal with friends. Unfortunately the steak that was served was over cooked I had ordered medium/rare, all the steaks on the table seemed to be the same. I left part of the steak and pointed out to the waitress that this was well done. She said she would tell him but nothing else was said or done.

I would have expected an apology or comment from the owner. Would have to think carefully before visiting this restaurant again.

Being new to area we explored... Found this while walking on the docks and after reading TA. We enjoyed a leisurely meal. High quality ingredients, nice salad, enjoyable carrot and yellow pepper soup. Not wildly wonderful but probably a cut above what's in the neighborhood... One server (the owner?) who did a great job but really needed help. A BYOB place

Four friends wanted to eat out together: two meat eaters, two veggies - We'd read the reviews here, and seen that the Barge has a fair vegetarian selection, and so gave it a try.

The location is a good one: on the docks, but out of the main thoroughfare so you don't feel you're eating in a goldfish bowl. Decor was calm and relaxed, and the reception and service from the owner was exceptional: just the right level of friendly attentiveness without constantly hovering (this despite being very busy with a large family party who had booked the entirety of the rest of the tables).

The evening menu was nicely varied, with a good choice for all; The food itself was good, in good portion sizes, and tasted home cooked (although possibly pre-prepared and warmed on demand - but it was still very tasty, and it would be unfair to expect completely 'from scratch' cooking from such a small place - or at £7 per course). The dessert menu in particular was delicious.

All around, a very pleasant evening at a very reasonable price.

Thank David T
