You can drive part of the way to the villa site or walk the mile both ways are pleasant , you can also take in the views whilst you walk.
The villa site are ruins but there is a brick building in top left of the site that if you look through you windows you should be able to see a mosaic floors.

“Wow! History is here.”

The remains of this villa are fantastic, you can almost feel the spirits of the past romans. You can stand next to the out walls and know that romans in the past, saw the same view as yourself - all those years ago.

“Dont make a special trip”
Reviewed 6 May 2014

Visited this site in Easter 2014, when we were visiting the Cotswolds. Made a special trip, thinking it would be good to see Roman ruins and mosaics in this part of England. Didn't mind the walk up from the car park, but when we got to the site and walked down to the buildings - major disappointment! Locked. Looked around the foundations in the field, tried to look at the mosaics through the window but couldn't.
I asked a local when the buildings were open, he said he'd never seen them open.
Its a shame more isn't made of this site.

“Roman Theme”
Reviewed 28 December 2013

Interesting, however disappointed as a lot of local dog walkers use the site to walk there dogs and do not clean up after their dogs. I was there for about an hour and two sets of dog walkers walked onto the site.
However the back of the site backs onto part of the Cotswold way so a good point to join that public footpath. Parking for the villa was adequate and clearly signposted.

“Good Example”
Reviewed 9 November 2013

I was staying locally and as I drove through Witcombe towards Birdlip I saw the road sign to this attraction. As I was not aware of it before, I didn't really expect much. The villa can be found by following the narrow lane through a farm to the small car park. You need to walk the last part. I was pleasantly surprised at the extent of the foundations of the Roman Villa. There has been a building on this site until the 5th Century. It was very interesting and there are some pleasant walks in the area. I would suggest planning a visit to the area and taking in the Roman Villa as part of a circular walk. The Roman Villa is located not too far from the Cotswold Way footpath.
