“Don't be put off by the ring road!”
Reviewed 15 December 2012

This was an overnight stay to break the journey on the way home and we chose this hotel because of the good reviews on Trip Advisor but we did wonder if it was going to be noisy being just off the ring road. Although the ring road is busy we had little impact from road traffic noise at peak times or you can leave the double glazed window closed and it is quiet. Well lit car park with ample free parking.

Welcome on arrival was very good and we found the staff helpful and accommodating.

Our room was a standard double and was clean and spacious with a very comfortable bed, writing desk and two chairs. Standard television with Freeview and 30 minutes free Wi-Fi available. Tea and coffee making facilities.

Our en-suite facilities were very clean and included a low level bath with a good shower over and ample hot water. Good quality towels.

We paid £39 per night for the room by booking in advance. There was a pub next door serving food all day but we didn't try it.

On the same site as the Premier Inn is a ten pin bowling alley with lots of facilities for children of all ages and a gymnasium. Within 10 minutes walk is a large Sainsbury's supermarket although you have to cross some busy roads. If you want to drive to the supermarket it means going up the dual carriageway and coming back down but this is a disadvantage of being on the ring road.

Another good Premier Inn and we would happily return, plus if you have kids there is the ten pin bowling alley to keep them amused.

we had another great stay in a premier inn ,great value ,clean , very good size rooms
as usual very good beds, great comfort, staff very good ,the pub next door where breakfast and meals were served ,good service and reasonable priced, had to have taxi to city center, but the price we payed for the room made up for that, would stay again, we had a room out the back which was away from the noise of the main road, although not sure it would be a problem having a room in the front.

Not particularly convenient for city centre, but handy for the Business Park. Breakfast was adequate, but on arriving was astounded to find that someone had already charges breakfast to my room, this was deducted on production of my room key, but it does make you wonder how thorough their checks are when "guests" arrive for breakfast.

Room Tip: Try and get a room that doesn't overlook the car park as these can be noisy

This is a pleasant enough place to stay overnight. However, I would not recommend it for more than one night.
The room I was given was large and clean with a very comfortable bed. The room was freezing cold when I arrived and took some time to warm up. The heating arrangements are odd in that the heating switches off at intervals with the result that you begin to freeze once more and have to leap to the controls. The management does warn that you are near a busy road, but I was not aware of any traffic noise.
The staff was uniformly pleasant and helpful
There are two negative points. First, the Chef and Brewer next door is dire (the service is poor and the standard of food preparation worse). Second, the traffic in the morning at 8.30 is horrendous, so leave plenty of time if you have an appointment.

Room Tip: I found 101 fine. It is near to the lift/stairs but does not get any noise.

Average typical premier inn room, clean spacious but a little dated. Heating fan was very noisy and had to be turned off in order to get to sleep. Noisy guests did eventually interrupt a good nights sleep. Meals provided at the adjacent Chef and Brewer, dinner was very good however the breakfast was poor quality.

Having booked a few weeks in advance I was disappointed to be given room 202. It was next to the door from the elevator, and this led to a disturbed nights sleep with lots of door banging both late into the evening and again early the next morning.
However, when we complained, we were refunded our money under the 'Premier Inn Good Night Guarantee' and the room was changed to one further along the same landing.
The adjoining pub/restaurant the 'Wheatstone Inn' serves a reasonable meal and a typical Premier Inn breakfast fare.

Stayed in for one Sunday night as I had a meeting in Gloucester the next morning. The room was good, although I have stayed in better premier inns but overall absolutely fine. My only issue was that at 1am some guests decided to have a fight/arguement on the corridor which lasted around 30 minutes. Premier Inn were very good though and refunded the room without quibble.
