This Saturday we stayed at the Black Horse Inn so that we were close to a wedding reception venue.
We could not have asked for a better service.....the welcome was friendly and landlord made the whole process of booking in seamless.
The Inn is set on a T-junction within a quiet village and there is parking on the opposite side of the road in a small car park for residents. Access to the car park is via a steep entrance road. However is is only about 20 metres from the main door.
There is some good walking in the area - The Cotswold Way passes by close to the Inn. Very pretty village and countryside.
When we arrived we were offered help with our luggage (a service rarely offered these days in my experience!)
Our room was warm, clean and tidy with everything that we needed. Bed was very comfortable. Shower good and lost of hot water.
Traditional old style building slightly uneven floor...but not in anyway a problem...very endearing along with the wood beams throughout.
We ate in the bar before we went out....excellent food and once again excellent service.
The bar is small and cosy but has a dining room extending from it for when it is needed and there is a separate area for residents to eat breakfast.
Breakfast was lovely - Full English and also a vegetarian equivalent...very tasty (Special dietary need requests are preferred in advance but having said that we had no problems getting the veggie option)
Would we go back again????.....DEFINATELY...!!!
Apparently the current landlord only took over this Inn around the middle of last year....What a success it has been for him.
One small point is that there is no mobile phone signal there....but who cares!...nobody wants to be pestered on a break away...if you want someone to be able to contact you whilst you are staying...give them the pub landline number...or just go up the road...simple !!
