“nice place”
Reviewed 17 June 2014

This building is lovely inside ,some Wetherspoons can be a bit soulless but this place has a great ceiling .We went on steak night had a mixed grill each ,all the meat was so tender ,food was hot and not a long wait even though it was very busy. For value it is hard to beat.

“Breakfast - what's happened”
Reviewed 15 June 2014

A simple Father's Day breakfast was planned in the Standing Order, a place that usually delivers. There was three of us and the food took over 20 minutes to arrive, the couple next to us had to complain as part of their big breakfast was missing.

Nice new crockery for the bacon cob and bloomer, the big breakfast wasn't ready having to wait for the tomato and mushroom to cook, so another few minutes for that to arrive. Then toast with no butter, so another wait for butter.

Food was disappointing, bacon underdone, sausages overcooked and egg in bloomer was also well done to no nice yolk. Having to wait for the tomato and mushroom meant the fried egg in the big breakfast was cold.

I can only presume the chef didn't do the breakfast shift as ensuring the food is all ready at the same time is a basic task for a chef.

Disappointing and no one about to even pass comment to.

“Interesting and value”
Reviewed 10 June 2014

As per the usual Weatherspoons theme, the Standing Order is located in a former bank. A very tall and feature-filled ceiling above the centrally located bar lends this a unique feature. There is ample seating, yet the venue is always busy. Locals use it as a starting point for their adventures into town, regulars sit and nurse the value for money drinks all night. The food is traditional, tasty and value for money. The staff are friendly and the service has always been prompt.

“Typical Wetherspoons - which isn't a bad thing!”
Reviewed 1 June 2014

My partner and I went for curry night to the Standing Order on a trip to Derby, mainly because we'd had a long day and just fancied somewhere we knew. The curry's were the usual 'spoons range but were very nice, the drinks were reasonable and they had a range of bitters on (and there was a free drink with the curry!) so you can't beat the value!

The only reason I knocked a mark off was the experience of seeing a waitress come out of the kitchen with a plate of food, drop some of the items on the floor and then just pick them up, pop them back on the plate and carry on taking the food to a customer! I'm not sure whether having just eaten made that better or worse :(
