“Great stay”
Reviewed 14 July 2014 via mobile

You can ignore the previous negative comment as totally untrue. We were staying at Green Gables when these people turned up well after 10.30pm and spoke to Martin at the front door. Our room was right next to the front door and we heard everything. Martin was not aggressive or even rude. They turned up at 10.45 pm after originally booking for a 5.00pm then 10.00 pm then 10.30 pm arrival times. They seem to forget that this is a guest house, not a hotel. Martin rang 3 times after each missed time of arrival and they still were late. Martin and his wife Linda are wonderful hosts and nothing was too much trouble. We will be coming back.

I see that other other guests have enjoyed Mr Richardson's hospitality but this wasn't our experience at all. Having arranged to arrive around 10pm we were then delayed, so when called by Green Gables, I asked if arriving around 10.30 was ok and was told it was. We knocked at just after 10.30 and Mr Richardson opened the door and said immediately and very aggressively 'I'm not happy'. Despite my apology he continued to repeat that he wasn't happy in a belligerent manner to the extent that we couldn't talk with him. If I had been on my own I would have felt very unsafe. My partner and I left straightaway and had to find another place to stay late at night.
His behaviour was out of all proportion and totally unacceptable.

My husband and I stayed in this b&b for a couple of nights break from work. We stayed here because it was handy for both the city and some nice walking areas. The b&b had a friendly feel from the minute we arrived. Martin was very helpful and informative with ideas of what to do and places to go, it seemed him and Linda really went out of there way to do everything they could for us. Rooms were clean and comfortable and we got a real hearty breakfast, great value for money. Thanks guys we'll be back!!

We went to this B&B because we were at a school reunion in the city center and with there been close public transport we thought this b&b was just perfect. It turned out it was. Martin the owner was very friendly and the rooms were very clean. We had a great night in the center of the city tasting all the ale that was to offer.
Breakfast was very tasty and sorted a few rough heads out. Martin was very handy pointing us in the right direction to get back on to the M1.

This family run guest house was found to offer excellent value for money. The rooms and bathroom were clean and facilities were very good. The breakfast was also cooked and presented very well. Overall I would recommend this b&b as a well run, friendly venue which is ideally located just on the outskirts of the city centre area.

Myself and the other half stayed at the B&B for a night whilst visiting some family. The bus stop to jump on the city center bus is just round the corner and busses run every 15 minutes. The indian at the bottom of the road "Moza" is also worth visiting if you want to stay local for dinner. We both thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will look forward to going and visiting Martin Linda and Harry again :)

A little gem of a B&B! The room was clean, well decorated and very comfortable. I stayed at the B&B for one night while visiting family in the area and i couldnt have asked for more. The host was warm and friendly and made me feel very welcome. Breakfast was tastey and there was plenty of it! I will definitely stay again next time im in town, well done green gables!!
