We arrived here at 9.50 to order 3 breakfast two veggi we were told the quorn sausages would take 10mins so at 10.15 after waiting 20 mins still not arrived .
We spoke to the Duty manager who said it took 20 mins to cook including defrost time. No problem we waited another 5 mins to be told they hadn't been ordered !!!!! So we complained the manager was sorry and offered a refund we asked how long they would be. 5 mins at 10.40 we asked the chef he told us he hadn't even started to cook them as they had not been ordered !!!! We found the manger who informed us as he had refunded the breakfast (not the whole order) he didn't think we should have them .
The Veggi sausages eventually arrived at 11.05am !!?
I told the duty manger that his Trip Advisor reviews were not that good to which he said quote "I don't give a toss about them "" Don't waste your money look at the reviews poor service with a rude duty manager no wonder it was empty !!!!!

A few weeks ago we met up with some friends to have Friday lunch at the Blue Peter pub Alvaston Derby. We had eaten there several times before & always found the meals quite good. However, on this occasion, we were astounded to see the carver of the meat was weighing the meat before plating it. I had chosen fish on this day, so am unable to say what the weight of the meat was, only that getting served was causing quite a delay. I don't know if this is common practice in all "CROWN" carveries, but if it is, I don't think we will be visiting any time soon.
P.S. Several months ago I had an e-mail from you that, Baggage tags were on their to us for reviewing hotels & restaurants we had visited, yet we are still waiting for them to appear, we already have THREE car , magnetic bumper stickers. Can you help?

My wife and I used to eat here approx once or maybe twice a month, we live very locally, we are retired and the carvery is cheap, (currently £4.19p although you can have a smaller plate for £3 odd) so, when you read this bear in mind that it costs less than a Macdonalds meal. Three choices of meat, Turkey, Beef and Gammon, all cooked beautifully. You can have a slice from all three if you like. All you can eat veg. Includes, stuffing, roasties, mash, green beans, cauliflower, peas, swede, and more I cant remember. Two different gravies and about four different sauces like, cranberry, horseradish, mint etc. Its all laid out nicely too. Dont know about you but what kind of thing turns you off? Well for us its always the little things, the simple easy things that are really easy to do or to fix if its not right but for some reason always seem to go overlooked, time and time again. You keep turning a blind eye thinking, oh well, its probably a one off, it will be different next time, and guess what! Its not different the next time, so what can you do? Vote with your feet, walk away and dont go back there, ever! Thats what we did, why? The veggie deck quickly gets messy with spills and needs tidying up straight away, if not it looks, well, a mess! When a veg is running out it needs its replacement dish right there ready to replace the empty, it never is, (at least not when we have been) you might have to wait for it, but oh dear, your food is now going cold! The carver person needs to be very nice and polite and appear to be happy in their work, even if they aren't. They need to respect the requests of the customer. The carver is the single most important employee at a
carvery, he/she is the link, the connection between the establishment and the paying public. You only get one chance to make a good first impression! My wife and I do not eat the fat on the meat, (heart problems, saturated fat and all that) we ask for no fat an the meat and if the meat is dried up because its been under the heat lamps so long, we ask can we please not have the hard, dried outer layer please. Our requests most often fall on deaf ears. Our plate will be given to us with dried fatty meat on it and we will just look at each other in dismay whilst the carver asks, is that ok for you? Ok this is where you say, so why didnt you say, no, its not ok! We cant do that, we cant deal with confrontation, we are old. Ok, the carver person has probably been told about wastage, after all, the meal IS very cheap. So whats the answer, I dont know, am I too fussy? Probably. We complained to a manager the last time we went there, he said it was strange because he had not received any other complaints about the carver, end of! I think its the old staffing problem. At a guess the job pays minimum wage and as such will not attract top flight people and those that are willing to accept this low pay are probably doubling up on their duties and run off their feet in order to manage. My advice, dont go there, there is also sometimes a problem with a verbally offensive and loud contingent in the front bar area. If you have a car and can drive out a bit, go to the Bartlewood Lodge near Ockbrook, stay on the main road through Spondon village, its down a long private drive off to your right. Its also a Crown Carvery and its a whole world of difference. Same cheap prices but with a bigger menu, beautiful surroundings and the most pleasant employees
that really do appear to enjoy their jobs. Try it, you'll like it.

Me and my family came into the blue Peter to celebrate my birthday and it was the worst mistake ever. When we arrived there was a tall bloke with an accent to greet us he looked so miserable n he was very rude. When we paid for our food and drink we were stuck of which dirty table to sit at so I asked a member of staff if he could clean a table so we could sit down he gave me a dirty look and walked off. So we had to clean our own table. We then went to the carvery deck and we were left waiting whilst staff were stood around talking. When someone finally came out to serve us we were told there was no gammon or turkey for an hour and also that there was a wait on roast potatoes. So we all had pie that looked like it had bin sat there for a week. All the veg was rock hard and the gravy was like water. We asked the same guy who we asked to wipe our table for some mint sauce and he said yh one minute but he never brought any out. We didn't enjoy our carvery so we thought we would try a pudding cause we were still hungry so we ordered puddings at the bar 25 minutes later we got told they didn't have 3 of the puddings we ordered after waiting all that time. So we asked for a refund or the puddings and basically got our money thrown at us. If never come here again the staff are awful the food is not edible and the place is run down. We used to love the blue Peter but its not what it uses to be. Very disappointing x
