We went at lunchtime and had 1. burger - massive (too big for anyone's mouth) but very tasty, 2) soup and pork pie - pie was fab and 3. posh fish and chips - massive portion, tasty fish but a bit greasy. Reasonably priced - around £10/12 for main meal. Nice garden area. Would definitlely go again.

Took some German colleagues out to the Exeter on a recommendation- wasn't disappointed- 8 real ales and good food. Pub was full on a Tuesday night and the wait for food was 30 minutes, but they told us in advance and when it came was excellent. We had lamb, sea bass, 3 piggies and burger and all were to gastro pub standards! Will be going back and will book a table next time.

We'd heard great things about the Exeter Arms and had seen the reviews on here so decided to go for Sunday lunch.

My husband and I arrived just after 2.30pm and paid for on street parking as we could see there were tables available through the window. When we went inside and asked for a table we were told they were only doing reservations. We tried to explain that we'd paid for parking and were only a table of two they still refused to accommodate us. I could understand if they were really busy but there were lots of tables being available and they didn't even apologise.

I cannot comment on the food because we couldn't get past the terrible service from the gatekeepers on the bar! I can understand resverations being required for a Saturday Night but Sunday lunch? We definitely won't be back!

We're extremely busy every day of the week. Sunday's are particularly popular. We only have about 32/36 covers and these are usually booked well in advance. Sadly it's not possible to accommodate 'walk-ins' when we're fully booked. The tables may look empty, but they were obviously reserved and about to be taken. If diners 'walk-in' earlier in service (12-1pm), we will do out upmost to accommodate them, 2.30pm is obviously peak time and on this occasion it wasn’t possible.
Our website clearly states "Booking is strongly recommended at all times !!" What more can I say......

This pub serves up beers from the Dancing Duck brewery,
however, of an evening at least, this is very much a food pub.
Exeter Arms has an traditional, almost old fashioned feel. Staff are friendly as is the pub dog!
I started with the beautifully presented haddock and mussel chowder then moved on to the equally tasty Viking burger.
Great, filling food for around £15
Popular eatery so worth pre-booking especially if in a group (can be done online)
Aside from the food, the Dancing Duck beers are well worth a try although beers from other breweries are available
