Description: Derby's glorious Victorian Market Hall is one of the City's hidden gems. It's soaring vaulted ceiling formed the model for the great Train Station recently refurbished at St Pancras Here, under the arches of the Guildhall Clock, generations of Derby Folk bought their Pyclets and Oatcakes. And, since 2012, this is where you can again buy ours, freshly made, and delicious in packs to take home and toast Alternatively, why not perch on our comfy stools at our bar and enjoy a delicious breakfast, lunch or snack? Not only will you enjoy our ingenious toppings (ever matched stilton with Honey and walnuts?) But we serve great coffee and the finest teas, served in Royal Crown Derby pots, proper China cups . Because, for the price of a McDonalds, you can have something special. As eating should be, but rarely is.

Had a weird experience in here a couple of weeks ago. After taking our lunch order and keeping us waiting for 15 minutes the bloke in charge suddenly announced he was going to have to close for the day due to a ‘family crisis.’ He then mumbled something about his business partner and that he ‘might’ be open again later. He was indeed open again later, laughing and joking with customers like nothing had happened (I know because we happened to walk past).

Make of it what you will but we won’t be returning. Lucky escape probably.

PS: If you’re interested, the coffee is from one of those auto bean to cup De Longhi things… great for the home if you’re minted and lazy but they charge £1.50 for it – you can get a full sized properly pulled latte for a couple of quid elsewhere.

Hi, we're really sorry you had a bad experience, we'd just like to let you know the pyclet parlour is now under new management and our customers are our main priority, also with a number of improvements we've invested in a barista coffee machine by Heston Blumenthal and our coffee is still the same price 2 years later! We'd love yo see you back for a somewhat improved experience to taste one of derbyshires tastiest traditions. Be sure to say hi when you do. Thanks Katie (the pyclet lady)

If you've never tried Pyclets then make sure you try them from here as they are the best in the country, the staff are friendly and have a laugh and are very helpful the Pyclets are out of this world and you will be surprised at the variety they do. totally recommended.
