This Premier inn was ok for the standard of the room and the staff had their usual helpfull and friendly style but we did find that it was quite noisey at night with doors banging untill after midnight and what sounded like people jumping around on the floor, not good if you have an early start next morning.

Room Tip: use top floor with no one above you

We stayed at this hotel recently to join a family re-union in the Derby area.

We had seen the advertising and considered it would be a decent quality family friendly place to stay. We travelled from Kent so we wanted to be sure of a warm welcome and meal on arrival. The add-on restaurant was therefore appealing to us.

Following arrival, we followed the receptionist's advice and booked a table at the restaurant. When we arrived down we were told to hold on whilst two waitresses considered an issue with their computer system and turned their backs on us to deal with their computer. We were left standing there for a few minutes at the restaurant reception whilst they dealt with their computer. The correct thing would of course have been to seat us (tired and hungry) at a table or at the bar and then deal with their issues. The restaurant was not exactly overflowing....

When we reviewed the menu we were pleased to see that it contained what apeared to be a good quality steak and chips etc. Standard travel fare which would suit us fine. My husband and daughter had steak and I ordered a burger. My husband took one bit of his steak and had to spit it out as it was foul and he said it was clearly off. He could not eat his dinner. My burger was ok but not exceptional and i ended up sharing it with my daughter who could not eat her's either. The manageress apologised for the situation and did not charge us but at that stage we had to abandon the meal and visit the nearby Sainsburys. Not a good experience!

Breakfast the next morning was not brilliant either. The food was over-cooked and the coffee was definitely not of the Costa quality we were led to expect. We ended up having tea and toast!

Our view is that if you are after a quick overnight stay this is fine. If you need the restaurant facilty as well then they need to do some work to get this up to a satisfactory standard and good management supervision is essential. Average is not a rating that works well in a restaurant. Food service and provison must always strive to maintain the highest possible standards.

This hotel is modest, but so is the price and we had a great weekend at Alton Towers which is about 35mins away.

Stayed there on Saturday night (7/7)
All we heard all night (and afternoon!) was the sound of a woman screaming while having sex!!!!!
I'm pretty broad minded but this was ridiculous!
I wanted to complain but my Wife wouldn't let me.
She felt too embarrassed!
We'll not be stopping there again!

this hotel is not one of Premier Inn's best ones. it's tired and it shows. old TV old room décor, saturday staff were warm and friendly. SUnday morning staff looked like they did not want to be there! breakfast was a shambles on sunday. cooked breakfast at the correct time? NO. cancelled my next stay and moved else where. used to better service from premier Inn.
