“Great stay at Derby West”
Reviewed 29 August 2012 via mobile

Stayed here with family, 2 adults and 3 children so booked 2 rooms next to one another. Rooms very clean and comfortable, very warm due to the nice weather however this couldn't be helped and fans were provided due to there being no air conditioning. We used this hotel as a base for a 2 day trip to Alton Towers, which was about a 30 minute drive away so was a great location for us and at the low price we paid a bargain. The beefeater was good value for money and everything we ate there was lovely. It is next to a large hospital so we did hear the sirens whilst awake, however couldn't say it kept any of us awake or woke us during the night and that was with the windows open! Overall a great stress-free, family friendly hotel, thanks for a great stay!

I used this one because it was right next to my business location. Also, there is a Beefeater right next door for meals including breakfast. Car parking is excellent and the staff are quite charming. The rooms were too hot and there is a small fan but no aircon.

this premier inn lived up to expectations for cleanliness, and polite hotel staff. Sadly it ends there. For some reason, every single door Slams shut, instead of closing carefully, so you get woken up every five minutes when someone opens a door! outside the decor could do with a spruce up.
We went for breakfast the first day, and it was what i can describe as a "bun fight".
they ran out of tea pots, so i made a mug of tea, which tasted of coffee (they clearly had not washed out the hot water jugs!) there was a fight for the toast, machine (when will these places get more than one machine!), ran out of bread, butter and the cereal dispenser jammed.
The second day, the tea did taste of tea, however, no tea pots again, no sugar, no butter, no jam, and another bun fight. They jammed all the help yourself part into one corner instead of spreading it out.
No help yourself hot food like other premier inns, and at one point, staff were hoovering in amongst seated guests!
The staff were friendly, but it appeared only two were doding any work! NOT GOOD AT ALL!

Room Tip: get a room right down the corridor, as the maids clean these last. they seem to start cleaing them a...

We stayed for one night in a family room as we were going to Alton towers the next day. We loved it, nice and clean with a good size room, comfy beds with a restaurant next door with a good choice of meals. The location was great only 30 minutes from alton towers. I stay in premier inns quite often and I am always very pleased with the price and quality. Also Doreen on reception was really nice and helpful thank you.

we stayed for two nights ... 2 adults, 1 child in the 4 bed familyroom.
this is what I expect from the room at this price.Continetal breakfast is VERY poor, but the cooked one is great deal.

Staff at reception friendly and at the restaurant very good.

Not the first time for me in a Premier Inn and not the last time!

Needed to stay in Derby ahead of a university open day so went for Premier Inn as it was close, affordable and you know what you're getting. First, the essentials: Check in was quick and efficient, staff were friendly, room was clean and the bed, which looked new, was comfortable. For £29 - plus the annoying £2 credit card charge - fair enough, but there were little niggles that detracted from the hotel (which looks dated from the outside, paint peeling on window frames etc). Oh, and when you arrive, don't worry about the pay-and-display machines in the car park, reception give you a free parking voucher to put on your dashboard when you check in.

We stayed in room 52 on the first floor and the floorboards in the corridor outside the room creaked like an arthritic giraffe doing yoga. Didn't notice it at night - a few Friday night liveners in The Mallard next door helped us off to sleep - but the following morning, from 7am, every time a guest or the cleaners walked past we were up the creak without an ear-plug. I could also hear the bloke next door using an electric shaver - at least I hope that's what it was - which suggests the walls are rather thin.

The bathroom was also dated, needs a makeover, and the hook was missing off the back of the door. We also had a Freeview telly that switched itself off every two minutes. I'm all for saving power but not every two minutes.

Had breakfast next door in The Mallard and tried the Premier Breakfast for the first time. Others have complained on here but I had a cracking full English and you can choose exactly what you want so, if you're like me and prefer to see mushrooms in the garden than on your plate, it saves wasting food or trotting out the old 'cooked breakfast without..." line. At £8.25, and even with hash-browns now available, it's over-priced - £6.95 max would be my idea of a fairer price - and next time I stay in a PI I think I'll give the cheaper contiental brekkie a go instead.

All in all, Derby West isn't as good as other Premier Inn's I've stayed in - distictly average pretty much sums it up.

Room Tip: Creaking floorboards on the first floor suggests a ground floor room would be better

Thank you for reviewing your recent stay at our hotel.

At Premier Inn we always strive to provide customers with a comfortable stay, and I apologise that on this occasion your stay was less than relaxing. We are very pleased however that our team at the hotel could provide assistance, and ensured that you were well looked after. Please be assured your comments have been noted and will be followed up with the Management Team at our hotel.

Your feedback is very much appreciated and we look forward to welcoming you back to Premier Inn in the future.
