“Would not return”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 August 2014

A large group of us went here and the waiter was rude kept tutting and "oi" ing us yet it was the waiter who got the orders wrong, food came out Luke warm was cold within a few minutes, poppadoms were over cooked and obviously not fresh, food was ok but went cold so quick didn't enjoy it.

Will not be returning much better Indians in the area

“Disappointed”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 July 2014

My husband and I have visited this restaurant on a number of occasions over the past few years and have always enjoyed our meal. However, tonight's experience has left us underwhelmed and unappreciated. We arrived around 7.30 on a Friday evening and requested a table for 2, the restaurant at this point was about half full, with more people arriving all the time. We were shown to a decent sized table for 2 and left to peruse the menu after ordering drinks. We ordered popadoms, starters of sheek kebab and mixed kebab, mains of chicken dopiaza and chicken dhansak, which came with pilau rice and also ordered garlic naan bread. A waiter arrived after 10 minutes of ordering and literally plonked the popadoms and accompaniments on our table without making eye contact or talking to us and walked away. Before we had chance to break the popadoms the same waiter attempted to bring us our starters, my husband and I tried to make it clear that we want popadoms before our starters, but he kept trying to put them on our table, another waiter thankfully took them away. When our starters arrived, they were Luke warm, but did taste nice all the same! Our mains arrived after a reasonable time, my husbands curry of chicken dopiaza looked lovely and the sauce was tasty and well spiced, however, the chicken was defiantly not cooked in the sauce as was clearly placed on top of the sauce, the onion chunks were very much raw and had not been cooked, such a disappointment. My curry of chicken dopiaza was very tasty and they had made the effort to stir my chicken into the sauce, the pilau rice was delightful, fluffy, light and fragrant, the garlic naan breads were also rather nice. Not one member of staff asked if our meal was nice, until we had nearly finished, my husband had a nice pile of raw onions at the side of his plate and when eventually asked about our meal, he mentioned the onions were raw, the waiter advised that they were meant to be like that, we said that dopiaza was twice cooked onions, to be told no, 2 types of onions, my husband then said that he only had 1 type of onion, raw! Not one apology or offer of reduction or anything, we don't normally comment/complain about meals, just smile, nod and say it is lovely. We asked for the bill once we had finished, and had to ask 3 time before the bill was bought to us. To sum it up, bad service, disappointing meal, no tip left!!!!! Will not be returning again any time soon!!!!!!!!!!

“Clearly the eat-in experience is better than their take-out.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 July 2014

After a long gap we fancied takeaway tandoori and so ordered chicken, lamb tikka ,a vegetable curry and three plain Naans. The tandoori chicken was tender and quite tasty but the lamb was nothing to write home about and a bit tough. So far so reasonably good but then we come to the vegetable curry....this consisted of a few leftover bits of vegetables : a few peas, one or two strips of cabbage, minutes dices of carrot ( about six in total !) and I counted two small coriander leaves in the whole dish. Perhaps midweek is not the best time to order this dish : there were no potatoes, onions or any sizeable chunks of vegetable to be found and the whole thing was swimming in a sauce that tasted of nothing much at all and had, I suspect, been diluted. I would not have ordered vegetable curry as I have yet to taste an authentic Indian vegetable curry in Swindon but my husband insisted; he won't be doing that again ! Now the Naans : texture was good but why the sweet taste ? They tasted as if they had literally been sprinkled with sugar. The usual mixed salad accompanied our order but it typically consisted of shredded lettuce with two pieces of tomato and two thick rounds of cucumber. By the way, why is it that the salad is always scrunched up in thin plastic and then placed on top of the hot food so it warms up ..?! Disappointing !

“Very nice meal”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 June 2014

Visited this restaurant last week on a saturday evening. The place was pretty full and showed promise of things to come.
We had been recommended this place by family members so was hoping it be a little bit special.

The food was pretty much faultless, all four of our party said it was really good and would have the smae dishes again. Service was a little slow, and waiters not the most attentive but then again it looked like they had their hands full. Prices are a little above average but like i say only just.

I will deffinately return, although i am not that local ( 20 miles away ).

Only issue in my view was the restaurant is very open and feels a little canteen like, and can get very loud as people struggle to be heard due to the openess from the adjoing customers conversations. What happened to the good old fashioned booths i used to enjoy at the local Indian ?
