Description: The first and still the only Nepalese restaurant in Swindon, it would be all too easy for the team at Gurkha Village to rest easy. However this fantastically friendly restaurant works tirelessly to maintain the reputation that it has quickly gained here in the town where it sits pretty as a real local favourite. Situated in the towns Gorse Hill neighbourhood, Gurkha Village is worth the wander from the centre, providing a perfect combination of warm, relaxing atmosphere and deliciously exotic food. Designed with simplicity and comfort in mind, the dining room is fairly frill free, only touches of attractive art and greenery giving hints of the restaurants Himalayan heritage. Freshly cooked food is traditional and tempting, the menu offering both Indian style classics such as biryanis and tandoori dishes as well as intriguing Nepalese specials made to authentic home style recipes. A real selling point is Gurkha Villages dedicated childrens menu which includes English and Indian options - ideal for family dining.

We've been to this restaurant a few times for lunch, dinner or for the Sunday Buffet, I must admit the food and the service in this restaurant never disappointed us. The last time we went there was for a farewell party, there were 10 of us. The waitress was very friendly and polite. We ordered different dishes and no bad comments about the food at all! I put down the atmosphere as average because we are the only table on a Thursday evening. I would strongly recommend this restaurant! You will not be disappointed!

An evening meal for four of us. Never eater Nepalese food, so I was a bit hesitant, but from the moment we entered I felt welcome. Several different people served us, all smiling all making me feel like a guest. I ordered something that wasn't vegetarian, but the chap taking the order said he'd get the chef to make it veggie for me. We were warned when something we'd ordered would take a bit longer, but it was all worth waiting for.
Congratulations on good food and excellent service.

We visited the restaurant on a Monday evening, traditionally a very quiet night for most restaurants, this is the only reason the atmosphere has been marked as average. EVERYTHING else was fantastic!
We were given some poppadoms to settle in with, we enjoyed the variety of pickles, slightly different from those given in an Indian restaurant.
We shared a selection of starters so we cld all try a variety of flavours and dishes, selecting the Gurkha veg platter and some Mo Mo (recommended by a friend). They all disappeared quickly, as they were really yummy.
Our mains were just as delicious, served at a leisurely pace, perfectly timed to allow our starters to go down.
We were given some excellent advice on dishes to order from the menu, all of us keen to try something strongly Nepalese, the advice was very much appreciated, as we all really enjoyed the food. Our vegetarian friend appreciated the wide choice of vegetarian options, a change from the usual dishes on offer.
And when one friend could not finish her meal, the staff had no problem at all with making up a 'doggy bag' so she could take the rest home. It was too good to leave!
The staff also voluntarily brought a couple of 'taster' dishes for us to try, knowing we were being adventurous. These people are rightly proud of their food and are keen to share their dishes and knowledge with their customers. We felt very privileged to be able to try some other new flavours.
This is a fab restaurant, we will be back for sure!
Please be adventurous if you haven't been here before, you won't be disappointed!

Don't be put off by the cafe tables outside... Inside is an extremely nice restaurant with a fantastic welcome and smiles throughout from the staff. And the food was gorgeous...similar to Indian but personally I believe it is much better in terms of flavour...the Thali was EXACTLY like the picture shown on trip advisor and was excellent. Would definitely recommend and I will absolutely be going back again.
