“Not a bad stay”
Reviewed 28 October 2013

Chose the Village at Swindon as stayed in Village Hotels Swindon. Reception area seems very inviting but corridors leading to the rooms look like they could do with a freshen up. Used the pool facilities and although smaller than other pools overall it was ok. Arrived at the Italian restaurant at 7 to be advised that there were currently no tables available, strange as we could see nearly 5 tables which were empty. Ended up at the Victory Pub which was ok but not when you have a teenage who had his heart set on Pizza. When leaving the Victory pub the same tables in the Italian were still empty!

For: (this is my 4the visit) Best location for the Link Leisure Centre (sports & ice rink). Easy parking & friendly service.
Pool, excellent gym, sauna, steam room & jacuzzi. The Executive Suite is enormous, perfect for a family of 4! Breakfast is worth the money! Easy access from the M4 & well located to explore surrounding area & Cotswolds.

Against: Not the best Italian Restaurant, lousy pizza's & tasteless pasta. Can be noisy with weddings & other functions with people gathering in the courtyard & smoking which drifts into to rooms facing the yard. Rooms starting to look tired & worn.

Room Tip: Top floor & facing away from courtyard are quieter!

My Partner and I have just had a weekend break at this hotel. The hotel staff are so friendly and helpful. We upgraded our room when we arrived and the room was fabulous, really comfortable bed, i pod docking system, star bucks coffee in the room, could not fault it. We ate in the italian restaurant both nights and the food was lovely. Entertainment on the saturday night in the Victory pub was amazing!! All in all we had a fabulous time and shall definitely be returning! I must say again that our thanks go to the staff, who were all incredibly cheerful and helpful!

Went to Swindon for a shopping day and stayed the night at the De Vere Hotel.
We booked an upperdeck room which was really nice, the only problem we found the room to be quite dark but clean and comfortable.
The downstairs Italian restaurant was good and the Victory bar next door was very good with live entertainment from stars of voice.
Didn't have chance to use the pool but was told it was very good.

First time at this property and I was very pleasantly surprised. Nice rooms, good breakfast, great restaurant (Buca Di Beppo) located right inside the hotel. State of the art staffed gym, swimming pool, Complex also has a movie theater, bowling alley, laser tag (kids will love this), two Indian restaurants, and more. Difficult to get bored or at least keep the kids busy! Will definitely stay here again!

I had a great stay at this wonderful hotel in Swindon. Big room, serviceminded people, great bar and a wonderful Starbucks. But dear english people...please wake up in 2013 and remove wall to wall carpets. It`s horrible with this carpets everywhere. And another thing...Bathtub?? Please install showers. You can`t mean that customers should climb into a bath tub, with their lives on stake, just to take a shower?PS. Check airfans on bathrooms, these are not clean. But if we look away from that.....thanks for a wonderful stay in beautiful Swindon. Will i come back: absolutely

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the road.

Me and my partner stayed here for one night just to get away for the weekend. We looked at a lot of hotels online and were quite surprised by the price it was being offered at- we paid £59 for the night which included breakfast and full use of the facilities.

The location of the hotel is about 10 mins from the M4 and easy to find.
On arrival we were greeted by friendly reception staff who checked us in quickly.
Our room was on the first floor and although easy to find, it was quite a trek down the corridors (think cruise ship cabin lay-out style)
The room itself was lovely though. Couldn't fault the cleanliness and it included a TV and sofa.
Apparently you don't get toiletries in the standard package, although this wasn't an issue as we bought our own.
Free wifi throughout the hotel was a bonus. We used the gym and spa once we'd settled in.
This was on the ground floor and had great facilities within it (including gym machines with built-in tv and internet!)
We decided to go out for dinner in the evening, however there are 2 restaurants and a Starbucks on site for other food and drink if you fancy it. The hotel is also situated at the edge of a retail park with a Pizza Hut on it. Drinks were a little over-priced at the bar but I guess that's to be expected.
The buffet breakfast the next morning was standard and offered enough choice for a good start to the day.
Check out was easy- we got an invoice under our door in the morning stating what we owed.

The only faults that we came across in the hotel:
-The bed was very uncomfortable. There was a sign on the pillow when we got there saying we could upgrade our room to get a comfier bed...a bit useless when you don't go to bed until midnight and then realise, which by that point is too late to upgrade.
- no toiletries which is quite strange for a large chain of hotels
-Situation of plugs round the room. The kettle was on a table in the corner with no plug anywhere near it to use it. And there was no mirror in front of the dressing table so you couldn't plug in hair dryer/straighteners etc as you couldn't see to use them!
-The welcome pack was very basic and didn't explain a lot of thing eg room service options, whether to use your towels in your room at the pool or whether you get new ones down there etc

Overall we had a really good stay at the De Vere Swindon and would highly recommend it for shorts stays. For what it includes in the price we paid you can't go wrong! :)

Room Tip: Upgrade for £20 if there more than one night!
