Description: Bistro Les Chats is a traditional French bistro where all our dishes are made on the premises with fresh ingredients. We use organic produce where practical and when it tastes the best. Our meat comes mainly from Wiltshire farms, with some specialist items coming from Rungis market in Paris; our chicken is always free range, our eggs are free range organic from Purton House Organics. Fish comes fresh daily, mainly from Cornwall, some from Scotland. Our menu changes monthly to reflect seasonal availability of fresh produce. We also offer a carefully chosen wine selection and range of French beers and ciders. Fixed price lunch and early evening menus are available, as well as a la carte. Reservations are recommended, particularly at weekends, but not always necessary. All our desserts and pastries are made on the premises and celebration cakes and gateaux can be made to order.

My Uncle lives in Swindon and we often go down to visit him with my family, every time we go to this restaurant and it is fantastic! The service is brilliant and the food is second to none. It is great value and also authentically French; a lovely restaurant.

We enjoyed another excellent evening meal at BLC. Starters were scallops and crudités followed by rabbit and duck breast. All very well prepared and tasty. The French red was also good and the service was friendly and efficient. Overall a very pleasant evening.

Have dined here maybe 4 times now and can honestly say it's one of the best and most consistant restaurants I know. Recently took a friend and she also loved it. We ate steak which was cooked exactly how we ordered it and the wine matched perfectly. Staff are friendly and the atmosphere is great.

The menu is in French and English. We both ordered Scallops for starters and disappointed these had been sliced and cooked in lime juice when we had not anticipated this. When paying they told us they had not charged for starters. We arrived just after 7pm and the restaurant was busy with customers but we were fortunate to be given a choice of table for two. We went midweek and had not booked but for special celebrations and more than two people telephone to book a table. Duck with Cherry Sauce was great and they have delicious desserts and excellent range of dessert wines. The Waitresses are French but speak good English and were professional, helpful and friendly. The restaurant was clean, attractively decorated French style and with pleasant background music though not too loud.

We have visited Bistro Les Chats on numerous occasions during the last three years, and have never been disappointed by the high quality of the food and the great service. Last weekend was no exception and the continued variety of the menu, coupled with old favourites makes this a great dining experience. The owner spends his time between here and the sister tapas bar next door, but he always has the time to say hello, and talk with diners about their menu and wine choice.
Can't fault the Onglet I had and the fish special that my wife had, only slight disappointment was the free carafe of wine for early bird specials has now been discontinued.
That being said the house wine is of a high quality and there is always something unusual on the wine list to try out.
My favourite French restaurant this side of the channel.
We will be back soon.
