The overall experience of this pub/hotel was good. The bar and surounding bars were very lively. Great place for a nights out with friends and Hen /Stag nights.

Staff were very friendly. The room was quite surprising as it was quite modern, didn't expect that.

The location was very good, came out of the pub there was a cashpoint on the corner and plenty of lively bars and restaurantes.

Room Tip: Rooms in the front are quite noisy, when all the pubs shut (3am approx) although they do give you ea...

Good rooms for a hotel over a pub. Staff friendly enough. Surprised by the room which was contemporary and clean, for a single room it was comfy and adequate. Only problem was the corridors being difficult to navigate, and my room was next to a boiler room of some sort . The noise continued on and off throughout the night. Shame as the bed was very comfy. Excellent value for money - if only I had slept.

Stayed here a couple of times now. Nice high ceiling rooms on both occasions. Staff always very friendly. Bar has nice atmosphere. Well located for Old Town restaurants and shops.

Went with friends for a meal at Goddard Arms. I found the food average, don't get me wrong there was nothing particularly wrong with it. It was served hot, but it didn't feel like a nice meal out. I can imagine it was the sort of meal someone might have after a night out drinking.
I thought they had a novel idea in that if you purchase 2 large glasses of the same wine (I would imagine at the same time), they give you the remainder of the bottle free - I did think this was a good idea.
I am afraid I wouldn't go rushing back for another meal here. However, if you want an inexpensive night out, then possibly this pub grub might be for you.

Room Tip: Please note, I am only reveiwing the restaurant and not the rooms

We were shown to an attic room, up many flights of stairs and doors, with very low ceilings. The headroom in the bathroom was extremely low. If you were over 5ft 4" you would have to crouch down to have a shower. The room was incredibly stuffy. The double bed was two singles zipped together so had a dip in the middle. There were no bed side tables, so no where for a glass of water, clock etc. Breakfast was optional at £6.50 though they were advertising breakfast from £1.99 if you were a customer of the pub. However the central location for the bars in Old Town is ideal and it was only for one night so it was adequate.

Room Tip: Ask not to be put in the attic room if you are tall!

Booked very last minuite with the offer of a £45 room on laterooms. Swift call to the hotel and got the same terms over the phone. Hotel had the slightly dowdy appearance of many such venues, and had the feel of needing a lick of paint in places. Once we'd got past the various methods of entry depending on the time of day, I was shown to a suprisingly well appointed room, albeit on a busy high st (pointed out by the staff) The ensuite bathrokm had a shower over bath, which imho was too dished, and the shower head too far away - looks like an accident waiting to happen. Didn't eat there but used the excellent old town location to sample the pleasant midweek nightlife of swindon, in this case a jazz trio in the old bank. Note, the location is nof so handy if you're walking from the train station. Slept like a baby on a supremely comfortable bed, woke up, predictably by traffic. Paid £6 for the breakfast which incuded an undercooked sausage, returned to me microwaved into oblivion... And it was going so well! - if you're caught out in Swindon and on a budget, you'll get a better deal here than the big chains, so may be worth a try.
