“A good budget stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 May 2013

We stayed at the hotel for a one night, bank holiday break away as the price was good and the location suited. The welcome from the Deputy Manager on reception was excellent with a good explanation of facilities and charges. The room itself was basic but very clean with a few very well thought through features such as plug sockets next to the bed and a hairdryer next to the mirror. Dinner in the restaurant was good although the service could have been improved - although the staff member was very pleasant. Food was of a good quality and the winelist was a good price. Breakfast in the morning was a lovely continental buffet and the service was excellent. We were offered the chance to have a cooked breakfast for a supplement but we opted for the continental as there was such a good choice.
Overall, although the rooms are a little basic and there is some road noise if the window is open, the service was excellent and I would recommend to anyone looking for this type of break.

It's a budget hotel but it's excellent value for money. It's on an industrial estate but don't worry, there's no industry apart from an up market car showroom. I don't like the over-powering and ubiquitous lime green decor, but that's a small grumble. The whole hotel is scrupulously clean. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Breakfast bar was well stocked with a good variety of food and drink but the Full English had been cooked some time in advance and lacked freshness. I would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: I reckon they are all uniformly adequate so can't give a tip.

This was our second stay at the Swindon Campanile. Although the rooms are very pokey, the hotel is excellent value for money, including the restaurant food which was good. Ideally situated not far from the Swindon outlet centre. Selina on the reception desk deserves a special mention for her helpfulness.

This hotel should have been comfortable and affordable. No it wasn't! The rooms heating did not work and it was freezing, they did fix but only after we went out for the evening meal, so not comfortable! Breakfast in the morning was a mess no where to sit without personally having to clear tables to find room, even with someone taking names at the entrance to the breakfast area. This was the pattern for the half hour we we eating. At the price they charge it was not a fair price! I will not be staying there again.

Room Tip: Pay extra to stay in town

I stay at this hotel frequently when visiting family ,its very close to Royal Wootton Bassett and Swindon,a five minute drive from the M4.If you book in advance the breakfast is included in the price which can vary depending when you book. The hotel is very clean and comfy, smallish rooms, not suitable for children.I find this is the best value hotel in the area, hence the frequent stays.

Do not be put off by the fact that your sat nav may tell you that you have to park close by and walk the last bit ( it's a lie). Behind the Audi garage is the hotel with free parking (yay) now don't be put off by the fact that the building inside resembles a refurbished council office from the 70s or the fact that the hotel chain loves the colour line green , the same green that was out of date by 1989!

My room was a double one, spotlessly clean, everything working and a very comfortable bed! The hotel is very quiet too so a great nights sleep.

Bathroom had a great shower and again very clean.

Had the continental buffet breakfast- great value too as you can fill up for the day.

All the staff really helpful and explained everything on check out!

Have stayed at a few places in Swindon recently and this is the best one so far

No sound from the front desk female supervisor when I arrived; just a peremptory nod to the woman who clearly reported to her... and was rather more welcoming! This property is quite close to the M4 and, therefore, is a logical stopover if your journey from Cornwall is to Heathrow.

So, my first stay at a Campanile Hotell and it was interesting to be greeted upon opening the bedroom door by a substantial swathe of lime green paintwork - lampshades and coat hangers the same colour. In fact, it is more artificial than lime green! On the other hand, there was tea and coffee making facilities and good vertical insulation. Vertical? Yes, because the sound of movement was from above and it was certainly audible.

Continental breakfast was taken in the restaurant and, for a small supplement, cooked breakfast was also available. I felt sorry for the supervisor who grumbled about staff not dealing with maintenance of the coffee machine: you just cannot get the staff... All in all, would recommend this establishment.
