A relaxing walk.
You could easily park on Westlecot Road near the Mall and turn onto a concrete bridleway running alongside Weslecot Manor. Keep going up to the disused railway line, now a footpath, and turn right onto the track for a peaceful walk leading to the canal. Good views towards Wroughton.

The canal restoration is really coming together and a trip of the day boat was really a stunner. Its good to see that there are new parts of the canal built in Witchelstowe together with locks and bridges. There is in fact signage within the canal advising boaters to keep to the left due to shallow water. I would love to think I shall live long enough to see boat traffic travelling through. I understand plans are well advanced and I wish the group luck.

This was a lovely day out. Nice and relaxing watching the boats come and go, chatting to some lovely people. Good food and drinks then unfortunately had to go home.

On a nice you can't beat it, open country also passing through / close to towns. I have walked the entire length of the K & A in bits. It is possible to get the train and walk small or large lengths of the canal and pick up the train again to get home or just drive and walk out and back. Their are many lovely pubs canal side, my favourite is the Black Horse at Devizes.
