Had a really good stay at this hotel. Room was really comfortable, location was quiet and restaurant evening meal fantastic. Staff were all very helpful, courteous and polite. Would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Overlooking the rear garden - very quiet and great views. We had the John Brydge room

Last week we had two nights/three days at the lovely Pear Tree Hotel. It was absolutely lovely, the food was delicious, the room and the hotel itself par excellence. The beautiful gardens and vineyard were a delight and the patio looking out on the lovely gardens is just perfect on which to sip their own, very drinkable wine. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Thoroughly recommend this beautiful hotel in the lovely rural setting.

We stayed for four nights in the most beautiful hotel surrounded by magnificent herbaceous borders, a vineyard and large meadow with a church in the background.
The standards in the hotel matched the surroundings with comfortable, well appointed bedrooms, a cosy bar and lounge and a large patio to enjoy the wonderful weather we had during our stay.
We had dinner in the bright and airy restaurant each night and the food was excellent, well presented and served. The breakfasts were also good.
All of the staff were friendly, efficient and were always keen to make our stay memorable.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel as a base to explore the area.

Thank you so much for posting your comments on here, we're so pleased that you enjoyed your break with us. We like to think we're a good base for exploring nearby places like Bath, Bristol or the Cotswolds so I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed that aspect. Thank you also for your comments about the food, I'll pass that on to the team in the restaurant and kitchen.
Many thanks

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Pear Tree - from garden chess to vineyards, large well appointed rooms to excellent dinner and service - and thank the owners for making our stay so pleasant. The Pear Tree gardens are especially beautiful. For overseas visitors, The Pear Tree is an excellent introduction to English country life.

This hotel is a real little gem. The service is friendly with excellent cuisine and comfortable accommodation. Beautiful gardens with a giant chess board and croquet plus beehives producing their own honey which is available to guests for breakfast. Very close to Swindon with its outlet mall yet tucked away amidst beautiful countryside.

Room Tip: If you are disabled there is a ground floor room with a shower

We booked at the last minute as we decided to join friends walking along the Thames Path. We had a very warm reception by the very friendly staff. The hotel is set in beautiful gardens with long, flower filled, borders. We sat outside before dinner and had a Pimms. The room was very comfortable. There were nice little touches such as a collection of books to read, and fresh milk for coffee the next morning. WiFi is free and extends into the garden. We had dinner outside the hotel with friends but breakfast the next morning was excellent. We will return.

A large family wedding was held in St. Mary's Cathedral within walking distance of The Pear Tree Inn, so multiple rooms were booked for all the family members coming from the United States. It was so much fun and comfortable to stay there using all the amenities provided like large areas to sit and chat or play cards. The weather cooperated so that we had lunch and afternoon teas outside on the gorgeous patio. The glass enclosure for dining was perfect for the rehearsal dinner and the scrumptious breakfasts provided each morning. I loved talking to Ann the proprietor about the history of the place and seeing the 11th century(?) fireplace that was moved along with the building from the cathedral grounds -- a short walk from the inn premises. I couldn't stop taking pictures of the beautiful flowers and grounds.

Room Tip: I don't think there's a bad room in the whole inn. There are suites available that have a s...
