“Friendly staff + Clean rooms = Wonderful & memorable stay for us”
Reviewed 17 August 2009

Good points
- Friendly & responsive staff : We had a problem with one of the showers so rang room service and the man (elderly gentleman) came in and sorted it out straight away. When we went down stairs later the reception staff recognised us and really made a fuss over us which was really nice touch.
- Clean & spacious rooms: really nice rooms. We had a corner room which was very big and the monitor come TV screens were ideal with a pair of young children with us.
We had a really nice time and hope to return again very soon

I was on business on the outskirts of Swindon. I was booked into this hotel without really knowing how desperate Swindon town centre is.

It is slightly unfair to give this hotel a complete slating as the main issue is Swindon itself.

The main problem is the car park - there isn't one! You have to park in a secure car park some 5 minutes away on foot. There is a small drop-off area at the rear of the hotel if you need to drop people off before parking. The drop-off bay is in a dingy side street near a police station. The car park costs £.5.40 if you pass your ticket to the hotel reception staff before you leave.

The hotel itself is somewhere between a prison tower and a channel ferry. The staff were friendly and check in was speedy. The rooms are okay, but the T.V and its associated system is overly complicated and the screen is of a poor size.

Breakfast was good for an Express quite a bit of choice (bagels, bananas, etc)

On leaving we got stuck in the car park by not being able to authorize our credit card in the car park ticket machine. The car park staff didn't respond initially - we were late for our meeting.

Overall I would say only visit this hotel if you absolute need to visit Swindon town centre.

My partner and I stayed at this hotel over Easter weekend. The facility itself isn't too bad, pretty new and the common areas are nice. The computer/TV is handy and the rates for internet access are very reasonable. The not so good: The hotel is right in the center of town, so it IS very good for access to the town center, HOWEVER it is next to three chain bars that have outdoor areas, and the patrons are loud far into the night. Our window didn't shut properly, even after a COOK was sent up to try and fix it, so our sleep time was dictated by closing time at the bars. The only area to park is a ten minute walk through the main market area, so walking to it in the morning and back in the evening is a bit daunting (dodging drunks and innumerous sick puddles). The hotel seems to cater mainly to coach tour groups. For a decent breakfast its best to get to the breakfast area whilst the groups are there: They get hot foods, the rest get cereal and bread. Our room wasn't serviceed during our stay, despite vacating it daily at 1030, and the furnishings were dirty and worse for the wear, actually looking as though they were from a tip. The shining star of the experience was the day clerk who was a very friendly young lady and was very helpful and cheery. The others seemed to hate their jobs and didn't like to be bothered by guests enquiries.
