I had stayed at this hotel a year ago and had nothing but praise for it. We had been on the top floor and everything was peaceful and quiet with extremely clean rooms and good service.
This time , however, was a totally different experience. Perhaps due to being a weekend visit instead of midweek?
The room was clean, and breakfast was fine. Though we did go quite early and avoided the bigger queues.
My main complaint was of the noise and "couldn't care less" attitude of the night receptionist. I asked for extra pillows due to a medical condition, but was told there were none to be had, and that the receptionist was on her own so couldn't look anyway. (Which was it?) So I spent the night in a lot of discomfort despite the bed being actually very comfy.
The noise from the streets went on ALL NIGHT, until well past 6am. But worse was to come from the guests arriving back at all hours, shouting at one another and even at one point demonstrating a complete disregard for property by smashing fittings in their rooms, or the corridors. I don't know which it was but it sounded like a whole bathroom suite had been smashed. Then there were further rows going on about whom was to blame..
I am reluctant to condemn the hotel based on this one night but I would recommend it for midweek visits only perhaps, to avoid the worst excesses of your fellow guests.

We stayed at the hotel on a Saturday night. We ended up in a corner room and the room was large. The room was clean and in good decorative order. Breakfast was ok. There was cereal, fruit, scrambled eggs and bacon.

The main problem with the hotel was the noise from outside. Even with the windows closed, the noise from the clubs and bars outside was relentless. We barely slept at all.

The only down side of this hotel is its lack of car park, and the fact you have to walk a good ten minutes from the car park to the hotel. On a Friday night I wasn't feeling overly uncomfortable but if I was a female on my own, I don't think it would have been ideal.

Overall the service was good, and the rooms were big once I found it - the number system doesn't make sense. The rooms are modern, clean and of a higher standard than a lot of the Holiday Express' I had stayed in previously.

The cooked breakfast is just toast, scrambled eggs and bacon, so pretty basic but you also get the usual HI Express continental affair and for £40 which is what I paid it's ok!!

If I was staying in Swindon again I would stay here!!

Stayed for a Friday night whilst visting a 2 day event near Swindon.

Room was of the high standadr that I've come to expect from Holday Inn Express - not too large but clean and comfortable - but for the air-con (see below). The biggest problem for me was that the room looked out over nearby bars/night club which were very noisy until around 2.30am - sleep with window open was not possible. Closing window reduced sound marginally, but then had to put up wth the air-con that had a mind of its own and would not stay turned off.

Breakfast was the usual Holiday Inn Express standard fare - good value for the room price (£40).

I drove to the hotel and only then discovered that the parking is in a Borough Council car park about 5 - 10 minutes walk away - this is not made clear on the hotel website. There is a small drop off area outside the hotel, but the instructions on how to get to the car park are inadequate and it is easy to get into the wrong car park. I left my car in the designated area at around 8pm on a summer evening and even then the car park did not feel like a welcoming place. This would not be ideal for travellers arriving in darkness. The car park charge overnight was £3.80, although the hotel said it would be £5 - this chargw is not mentioned on the hotel website.

I suspect if you got a room facing away from the bars/clubs that back on to the hotel things may be quieter, but I'll not choose to stay here again.

Stayed here for two nights during the airshow weekend at Fairford. I paid 120 pound per night (I know it was the airshow but very expensive still) and expected a little more than a matchbox with large red stains on the carpet, crayon and tea marks alll over the wall. And to top it all off the previous occupants finger nail on the bed side cabinet. Receptionists were friendly and helpful. Shame the management were not. The General manager refused to speak to me and the Duty manager, despite being a reasonable bloke called me a liar. Had it not been for the airshow and other hotels being full I would have left. Funnily enough I phoned one other hotel to ask about availability, they advised they were full but had seen this hotel on Lastminute.com. I wonder why!!!! Area around hotel is a city centre with lots of pubs and nightclubs, most of which have broken windows. Plenty of noise at night. I have been in other HIE before so was expecting better. This was simply awful.

We stayed for 2 nights to coincide with watching Brighton play Swindon. The hotel was about 20 minutes walk from County Ground.
We were given a large corner room on 4th floor - double the size of usual HI Express rooms, with floor to ceiling windows on both corner walls. The room was bigger than some Crowne Plaza ones, with a sofa and easy chair. There was a full size bath with shower over. Everything was new and clean.
Breakfast was OK - cooked items a welcome new addition, with lovely light scrambled eggs. It was very relaxed, but seemed a bit packed when we checked out later.
Only bad points were:-
Parking - as mentioned the car park was a treck away (no fun in the rain), and didn't appear very secure
Restaurants - real shortage of places to eat nearby, Bushtucker 1 night was OK, and Dolce Vita round the corner was excellent family run Italian.
Quite noisy at night - drunks in the street, and bottle bank emptied at 2.30 a.m., but didn't keep me awake as drowned out by air-conditioning!

Rented family room for one night for £40. Car parking is a little confusing as there are directions to the nearby Brunel West car park on the door of the hotel but not one the website. Parking is £5 providing you validate the car park ticket at reception and park on the 4 & 5 levels of the car park. Short walk through the shopping precinct to get to the hotel.
Room was clean, modern and reasonable size. Everything worked. Reasonable choice for breakfast including scrambled egg and bacon
Staff friendly. Location in town centre, near pubs, clubs and restaurants but we found that the rooms were quiet. The rooms were airconditioned too.
