“Great fun but tatty”

Took children to enjoy the flumes and wave machine here. Had a great time here, although it's hard to ignore that the oasis needs a proper refurbishment. Everything is old and poorly repaired rather than replaced.

My advice is to visit and have a fun time because I foresee the day that this place is torn down due to everything needing replacement at once. Lockers are £1.20 with £1 returned afterwards (large enough for 4 people to share one without large coats/handbags etc.)

Th epool could be so nice but the changing area really lets it down - dont look up as you can see the dirt piling up on the air conditioing. The gym is well equiped but the guys that work there are not very helpful or proactive - ive seen people lifting weights very badly and never seen any one offer to help.

Glad its recently been taken over - hopefully this will improve

Well the swimming pool is great for the kids and is lots of fun. I am more interested in the use they make of the centre for live music. They get good names there i.e. Will Young - well worth checking out for a more intimate event.

My family and I enjoy the facilities at the Oasis centre, and so have been there a great many times over the years. With the cost of £16.60 for a family and under threes getting in for free it's worth the trip up the motorway for us to visit.

Lockers are a £1 - returnable.

Huge changing room with large family changing cubicles which is really helpful.

The sessions are for only 60 minutes ( but before I moan about that..) this is timed with huge coloured clocks above the pool itself using coloured wrist bands to determin how long you have left, you can use this time as you wish either in the pool or the flumes or indeed both.

The pool itself is immense, it's large and clean and set as the names suggests almost like a paradise oasis island bay and is under a large dome that makes it bright no matter what the weather outside. what I really like most is its gradual slope into the water almost like a beach so you can lay propped on your elbows with the waves lapping your feet. The wave machine comes on a few times each session, and the deeper you get the stronger these seem, can be quite overwhelming for the weaker swimmers.

There is a fantastic pirate ship in the younger area, with slides and other water activities like fill and tip buckets, water jets and splash slides thankfully this is kept to under eights although sometimes even they can get a little boisterous for the toddlers.

There is then of course the dome busters, three flumes that are fully enclosed water slides each with a varying amount of dips and turns, the sidewinder, the great white and the newest edition the storm. These keep my three older children entertained for most of the duration of our visit, however it is quite a long walk up the endless stairs to the flumes and it can get a little chilly waiting there wilst your wet, but that was my complaint and certainly never bothered the kids. There's also a new slide which is an open topped flume that travels around the inside of the oasis itself called the lagoon, this was my favourite. We all enjoyed all of the flumes.

I love this place and would have given it five stars, however my only complaint is that the sessions are only 60 minutes long, it takes us about that just to get there! you cannot purchase more than one session at a time so if you want to stay in longer then either a spectator in your party or in our case one of the swimmers has to go back up to the kiosk to pay for another session whilst the remaining party waits in the changing rooms. Hardly practical. When I take the kids to splashdown in pool, the price is a staggering £64 for us all to go in, but this is for an all day pass and we really can stay there all day! Plus you are able to get out leave grab some lunch or whatever and the re enter the pool later that afternoon if you so wish. My point being if families are willing to pay this then surely the Oasis centre should offer a longer session with a cost to match as a choice??

I have contacted the centre and shared my suggestion and was old helpfully that if the pool is quieter - usually week days after 4.30pm they may turn the timers off giving you a longer session! So that's a good idea as it's open till 7pm during the week anyway.
