“Hearty and fresh fare”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 April 2014

As staying at the nearby Hilton, the Calley Arms seemed to be a good bet for some wholesome pub food and we were not disappointed.

The specials board had excellent pigeon breast with black pudding served with salad which was delicious and a crayfish cocktail which was light and fresh for starters.

For mains we had the sole which was meaty and moist and very flavoursome and the haddock served with mustard sauce and sauté potatoes along with a dish of veggies. The landlady said all the fish was fresh and you could taste the difference.

It was really a good meal and it came in under 50 with the 2 starters & 2 mains plus a bottle of white wine and some water - no room for desert, sorry. The pub was charming and busy although food is only served till 9. A welcome escape from corporate chains and supporting the local community pub at the same time.

“Lovely country pub”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 April 2014

Attended a course and stayed at a nearby hotel. This was a lovely surprise. A proper country pub, friendly locals and great atmosphere. Lovely food, liked the Pie and pint offer!. Reasonable cost, good beer. Wish we had found it sooner.
Thanks to the landlady and her friendly staff for a great welcome and evening.

“Wonderful food and atmosphere ”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 March 2014 via mobile

Wanted to go out for a traditional pub dinner to a place with a cosy and friendly atmosphere and that is exactly what we got. Excellent food, very friendly and helpful staff. Very reasonably priced. Too full to have a dessert as the portions were large. My fiancé had the mussels - which he was very impressed with and the calamari was also good fish and chips were lovely and the burgers are very generous! We will definitely be back - especially to try the pies and Sunday roast!

Last Saturday we took my niece and her husband to the Calley Arms for dinner - the food was amazing! The starters were huge - and the Thai fishcakes were rated as the best ever - and the portion size enormous - could have been a main course was the comment! I had the mussels followed by smoked haddock - the Calley has a deilvery of fresh fish every Friday - so if you are a fish lover - like me - I cannot recommend it highly enough!

The staff are friendly and attentive - and worry if a plate is not cleared that somethig is wrong - no just too much!!

I cannot think of anywhere nicer to eat in Swindon - pub or restaurant! Already booked for Mothers Day!

“A wonderful dog friendly pub!”

The staff at the pub are very friendly and welcoming. A lovely wood burning fire was very welcoming. The food was substantial and tasty - the desserts tempting.
