Really lovely hotel. Used this as a base for the Cheltenham festival.
The receptionist was lovely, and we were offered a warm welcome and were quickly in our room. The room itself was a very generous size, though the view wasn't gorgeous! There was a very large TV, and a decent amount of tea and coffee had been left out, even for us caffeine fiends! The room was immaculate, as they always are, ditto the bathroom which had clearly been newly kitted out and looked very smart. Water was HOT (which is what i like!), and shower powerful. However the only minor niggles were here, the bath plug, though it fitted was ever so slightly awkward, and one of the lights above the mirror didn't work. This really was not worth mentioning giving the quality of the finish and cleanliness elsewhere however.
We ate in the beefeater for the first night, which was as it always is, not fine dining, but a very tasty filling meal.
We found we slept very well and were not disturbed by the building works, however we were rising early every day, so i can't guarantee that those with the intention of lying in would have the same experience!
The hotel is fairly far out of town, about a tenner taxi ride, or a bus. but this did mean it was very quiet at night.
We've already booked it for next years festival!!More
