Thank you for your most helpful review ~ we always make every effort to accommodate special dietary requirements so that every guest feels welcomed and at home. We have recently enhanced what we can offer to guests with gluten-free needs and it is really pleasing to receive positive feedback on our efforts.

Recently stayed in the Holiday Inn at Telford. This is on the exhibition complex where I was attending an exhibition. For that reason the location was great, walking distance of the exhibition. The hotel itself was clean and had all the usual facilities. It has a swimming pool but I did not use it, bar which was good, very attentive staff in the bar area. In striking distance of Ironbridge (15 mins) in taxi.
All in all a good stay, exactly what you would expect from a Holiday Inn, nothing to get excitied about but does the job well.
Did notice no mini bar or fridge in the room, and I found the bath very small (and I am only 5ft 2 inch !!!)

Thank you very much for your positive review and I am pleased that you found our bar staff attentive as this is one of the areas where we focus on the customer experience.

Minibar fridges are available in some of our executive rooms so please dont hesitate to request one of these rooms when making your reservation.

I was on business for the weekend and was booked into this hotel. Good points first. The hotel staff are all excellent and work hard to ensure that you will be looked after. I have been staying at this hotel for over 4 years on business and some of the staff are long term employees which is a very good sign. What does let the hotel down is the property and the little cut corners. There are three suits consisting of three rooms, one dining/sitting room, a bedroom and a huge bathroom. The furniture in the dining/sitting room is old and very uncomfortable. The bedroom has a wardrobe and sideboard no different to the standard rooms and the bathroom is a real disappointment. At least this year they changed the television to a flat screen. They really do need to engage somebody with some flair and taste to refurbish these suites. They have started to upgrade the standard rooms. The bathroom does now look very nice with brown tiles, upgraded bathroom fittings and a shell sink. The room itself has had a surface facelift with new furniture but the bed is the same and if you are unlucky having noisy neighbours, you will hear every word, made even worse if you have a closed interconnecting door, you may as well be in the room with them. The public areas have not changed and are very tired but practical. If you are using the hotel conference facilities, there are an assortment of room sizes which are very useful but not outstanding in decor. There is a restaurant and once again it is tired. The food in this hotel is reasonable but that's it! Do not expect outstanding cuisine - it is acceptable, I include breakfast in this criticism.

There is a great swimming pool and health club which is excellent, take your gym gear and swim wear with you. Great to use if you are working and need a workout or swim.

I must re-re-emphasise that ALL the staff are lovely and I think that if it wasn't for them, this hotel would be in trouble. Having said that, there is little choice in Telford and all the big hotels are owned by one company who also own the huge Telford International Centre next door. They own this hotel, The International Hotel and Grays.

Room Tip: Get a Priority Club Card and then be exceptionally nice to the reception staff. If you are travelli...

Thank you for taking time to write a review following your recent stay. I am pleased that, overall, you enjoyed your time with us. The Holiday Inn Telford is owned by the Southwater Event Group, who also own the conference centre, as well as The International Hotel and Grays Hotel, and we are pleased that the service of our staff has shone through during your stay. This is something that we pride ourselves in, across the Group.

Regarding our property, we do have a rolling refurbishment programme and have just completed a further 20 bedrooms, including some new mattresses, recarpeted the bedroom corridors and tiled all the lift lobbies. We will shortly be recarpeting our restaurant and conservatory areas.

We do hope you will stay with us again in the future.

Stoped in the hotel for a weekend, found the rooms comfortable and well equiped, beds were excellent, very comfortable, I was on the ground floor so did get lots of noise from the corridor, used the gym which was not good, very old equipment, no sound system, but the pool was good. Food at the hotel is OK not great you can get much better outside in the shopping area that is just a short walk away, good parking facilities, they do need to get table service for drinks save having to que at the bar, overall for the price paid not a bad hotel.

The room was basic - the decor, paintwork and fittings were all a bit tired. I guess the plus point is that it was very cheap. A good tip is - get a room away from the ground floor - kids running around until very late which I would guess is a standard weekend occurrence.

The bar area was OK and the choices of food and drinks was pretty good (no-one even blinked when asking for green tea).

Dinner at the Olive Tree was very disappointing. Having booked a table for 18.30 (opening time) it was quite remarkable that the restaurant just did not seem to be ready. It took 15 minutes to get menus, a further 15 minutes before anyone took our order. Someone who looked like head chef did come and check in with us and seemed concerned that we were not getting the right level of service. His concern did not translate into action however. Finally it was an hour between arriving and having food on the table.

The food was mixed - a baked Camembert and a black pudding Quails Scotch Egg were quite tasty. Sirloin steaks were cooked as requested (medium rare) but there was no way that it was freshly cooked when it was served - felt like it had been sitting around for some time. Tarte-tatin dessert was nice and fruity but otherwise not special.

Breakfast was OK - a bit disturbing to see the bread bin being filled with slices of bread by a waitress with her bare hands. Fussy? Maybe, but I have no idea what she might have been handling only seconds before that.

So hotel gets 3 stars, restaurant would get 2, losing a star due to appallingly slow service.

Thank you for your candid review. I have endeavoured to contact you to find out some more information about your restaurant experience so I can investigate what is certainly not indicative of our usual standards of service.

I would also like to reassure readers that it is not a standard weekend occurrence for children to be running around the hotel until very late.

Having said that, I was very pleased that you enjoyed your bar experience and the wide range of teas and coffees that we have available for our guests.

Stayed here for one night as convenient for International Centre. For a franchised Holiday Inn staying here was a pleasant experience. The rooms are kept in good condition, it has a great lounge for relaxing with a drink watch out for the extra cost if paying by credit and your bill below £5. It has a good swimming pool for a hotel of this size and a Gym which is well equiped with steam room and jacuzi. I ate here with a group and the meal was good. Internet conection is priced very reasonably which makes a change for a hotel. Its greatest strength though are the staff who are very friendly and helpful. As I arrived by train it could benefit by better signage when approaching from that direction.

Thank you for your thorough review which I have passed on to all the team. I'm so pleased that you found time to experience the leisure club, dining and bar during your stay. Its so convenient to be right next door to the International Centre so our guests don't have to waste time travelling to the Centre and back, which means more time to relax!
