“Just like home”
Reviewed 24 February 2014

Adrian and Rosemary are perfect hosts who have created the perfect B&B. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they treat their guests like friends. Breakfast (and dinner) are beautifully prepared and presented with fresh ingredients and good home cooking. The Old Rectory itself is like a little oasis of calm in the middle of Telford - tucked away in the old village of Stirchley. The rooms are very clean and very homely. Two things make the bedrooms unusual in my experience. First, the Old Rectory is the only B&B I've ever stayed in that has electric blankets and current editions of lifestyle magazines in the rooms. We have stayed here twice in the last few weeks and thoroughly enjoyed staying in what feels like home as soon as you walk through the door (which, by the way, had potted narcissi in the entry porch - so you are greeted with wafts of scent). Add to this Rosemary's homemade shortcake and you have...well, I think you understand.

If you need a place to stay in Telford that has character, style and the personal touch, I'd go nowhere else. More expensive than the budget hotel chains, but worth every penny.

Thank you Rosemary and Adrian for making us feel so welcome. Really lovely victorian rectory with very large rooms and high ceilings. Spotlessly clean with comfortable beds and lovely bedlinen and towels. Nice little touches like shortbread and fruit in the room. Very nice couple who seem genuinely interested in their guests.

Room Tip: we stayed in the Besselow which was a lovely spacious room overlooking the front garden. It was ver...

Beautiful house, stunning rooms and great value. But what really makes this place special is the warm welcome by Rosemary and Adrian. They made us feel at home from the moment we arrived and thoroughly spoiled us with home cooking from fabulous cakes in arrival to homemade shortbread in our room and a delicious selection of breakfast options. I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

Really nice guest house. Much nicer than staying in an anonymous hotel and it's only 5 mins car journey from Telford conference centre (same as ramada). Comfortable beds, crisp clean decor. Lovely touches like fresh fruit in room. Rector's breakfast particularly delicious!

My husband and I booked to stay here for 1 night. We were travelling home from the southwest, and after reading the reviews on Trip Advisor, decided to book. OMG. How pleasantly surprised we were. Adrian & Rosemary gave us a very warm welcome (as did the dogs!). The room we were allocated (Besselow) was just beautiful, as were the surroundings. The bed was so comfortable and the bedding felt like I was wrapped in a cloud, so much so, I bought the same bedding on the way home!! The room was spotless and the bathroom was huge. We asked Adrian where he recommended for dinner, he suggested The Hundred House and we were not disappointed. The food was divine. After a wonderful nights sleep, we had breakfast. Fresh ingredients cooked to perfection, freshly laid eggs from their own chickens, and homemade bread and jams from Rosemary. The only disappointment was that we didn't stay for two nights. All in all a FANTASTIC B&B and we will definitely stay here again. THANK YOU Adrian & Rosemary

We stayed for the weekend with our dog and really enjoyed the warm and friendly welcome from Adrian and Rosemary and the resident house dogs Heston and Blossom! All the food including the homemade cakes on arrival was fantastic and the room was lovely and equipped with anything you might need. We are hoping to book a stay in the Summer to enjoy the garden at its best.

My husband & I stayed here with our daughter for one night as we had to drop our daughter off early next morning for a residential course at Lilleshall Sports Centre near Newport.
From the moment we arrived we had a warm & friendly welcome from Adrian & Rosemary. We were asked if we wanted a tea or coffee & after showing us to our lovely rooms we were invited down for tea in the cosy living room. There was a welcoming plate of delicious homemade cakes along with our tea & a warming open fire which was just what we needed after a long journey in very wet cold conditions.
Adrian & Rosemary were lovely & very friendly & made us feel at home. Our dinner which we'd asked for on booking was absolutely delicious & Rosemary had catered for our daughter who is Lactose intolerant. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meal & Rosemary had gone to a lot of trouble & offered us a 3 course meal.
Our room was so comfortable & we slept very well & there was also a great choice of magazines to choose from.
The next morning we had to have an early breakfast at 7.am but there was a lovely array of breakfast items already laid out for us. Adrian greeted us & told us to help ourselves & he also took our orders for cooked breakfast items. I had the cooked breakfast which was delicious & my daughter had poached eggs with smoked salmon. The eggs were laid by "Valerie" & "Phyliss & my daughter said they were very tasty. My husband had the "eggy bread with bacon and sausage which he also enjoyed.
After breakfast we had to leave to drop our daughter off but it would've been lovely to stay longer. We would definitely return again as our stay was simply amazing!

Room Tip: We chose the William & Jane rooms which were very spacious & so comfortable. The rooms were...
