“Unfair pricing”
Reviewed 9 February 2014 via mobile

Ok the hotel was as was the location, when I first went on line to book it was£32 per night . When I actually booked it was£60. On arrival it had gone down to£32 again, which I mentioned to the staff who said it fluctuates. I find this annoying to say the least. I was told I could of cancelled that day rebooked at the cheapet price. So everyone booking please note !

We had a great stay here, it was clean comfortable and well priced, will use Travelodge again. It was also nice to be able to eat on site at a Toby Cavery so no more driving after a long day travelling.

This location has obviously been recently refurbished, and the new decoration and fittings are smart and welcoming (while still a little generic and anonymous, as to be expected).

We had a double room (clean and well presented) on the ground floor for our one night stay, as it happened a wheelchair accessible room although neither of us currently need the additional facilities of one.

The bathroom is well designed, and seems at first glance well adapted for the needs of a wheelchair user with plenty of rails and lowered facilities, although as non-user my viewpoint is biased.

The shower delivered plenty of pressure and heat, but as ever if you're going to stay in a budget chain hotel you need to remember to bring your own toiletries or be prepared to purchase them from the vending machine in reception.

The let down in the room was the bed - not actually a king size as described, but two singles clipped together (although this may be an adaptation for the room). The newly designed mattress (with attendant advertising in room and reception) was hard. Very hard. Although my partner slept fine, she has previously fallen asleep on a snooker table, a kitchen work top and a flight of stairs. I slept poorly, and only after an extended period of sleeplessness.

My other comment would be that with so many people owning mobile phones / tablets / devices, and wishing to charge them overnight, why with a total refit of rooms that has integrated lighting at the bedhead has this chain not installed power socket provision to accompany this?

We are very sorry to learn that you found the mattress to be uncomfortable and because of this were unable to get a good night sleep RedHillian. We can confirm that the zip and link beds are in accessible rooms to allow the room to be set up as two single beds if required. We can confirm that all family and double rooms are set up with a king sized bed. We are also very sorry to learn that you found the position of the plug sockets to be inconvenient. Please be assured that your comments will be passed to our Hotel Management team so they are able to address these issues.

Newly decorated, clean room still smelt of fresh paint. Friendly welcome, very noisy plumbing in the middle of night, sounded like a motorbike in the corridor. Only towels for one guest, booked a room for two, most annoying and the third time this has happened in different travel lodges. The receptionist apologised and assured me it was an error and not company policy.

We have been looking for an affordable, comfortable hotel near to Shrewsbury for over 10 years. At last - This is it! We stayed at a Travelodge last year... and vowed never to stay again as a result of such a horrible bed and no sleep. We were enticed with the promise of a new bed... and it didn't fail to deliver. The bed was the most comfortable hotel bed I have ever slept on. The room was clean and sparsely furnished but functional ... it met our needs. This hotel has changed my opinion of Travelodge... and I will certainly stay in any Travelodge that has these new comfy beds. What a relief to find it.

For £34.00 we didn't expect luxury. The reception area is very basic although the chap on the desk was friendly enough.
The room is clean enough but sparse - bed, dressing table, TV and two chairs. There was a big space in the room where a table or some easy seating could've been put.
Despite it being a double room, there was only one hand towel and one bath towel. Even in a budget hotel I'd have expected two of each.
The bed was comfortable although a bit hard, but at least there were four pillows.

Thank you for your feedback Mickjenn65. We do expect our rooms to be set up correctly with the correct amount of linen and towels for our customers so we are truly sorry to learn you were only provided with one towel on your arrival. We will be sure to pass on your comments to the hotel manager so that they can address the issue you have raised.
