“Lovely relaxing stay.”
Reviewed 26 February 2013

Stayed at the Shakespeare for a week end break.....it was very cold with the odd snow flurry. The first thing we noticed was how warm the room was and how clean comfortable and nicely decorated too with a great comfy bed. (everything worked!)
Our welcome was warm and friendly from all the staff and the food was great. Good honest above average pub food. Be warned even if you are staying, it's best to book an evening meal as it's very busy, rightfully so. Breakfast is awsome, no need to eat for the rest of the day!!
The location is good, walking distance to most of the attractions and the bridge.
All in all a lovely week end and a treat to find an Inn like this, would highly recommend.

Room Tip: All rooms are accessed from outside at the back of the Inn, meaning you don't have to go thru...

We stayed at The Shakespeare Inn for a night, whilst visiting the Ironbridge Gorge. It's very well located and we walked from the Inn to the local attractions. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming and the room was clean, spacious and in our view good value for money. We were in room 4. The noise from the bar below did come through to the room but it was not too intrusive for us and we actually liked it. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and did find the size of the portions daunting (they're massive) but did our best to clear our plates. We had ordered starters, which unfortunately didn't help with the challenge. For the main course I had the Fiery Tortilla and it was excellent. We would definitely consider the Shakespeare Inn if we're staying in the area again.

Will definatley be stopping here again, very cosy and well presented rooms with solid wood floors and views of the river and canal from all rooms. Very well situated for a visit to the ironbridge museums as it is directly over the quiet road from the tar tunnel, a 5 minute walk from the coalport china museum, 5 minute walk from the maws craft center, approx 15 minute walk to the entrance of the blists hill victorian town.food portions were large, the full english will no doubt set you up for the day. Staff are very helpful and polite throughout the stay.

Stayed at the Shakespeare for over 6 months and thoroughly enjoyed the experience, great staff, good company, excellent food and very very clean rooms. I would have no hesitation in recommending the Shakespeare but not too loudly in case I need to come back!

Room Tip: some slight noise from the bar which adds to the atmosphere this doesn't detract from what is an...

Wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Shakespeare, we live local and have been a number of times, food is always excellent with generous portions and staff are polite and helpful.

Also a good location to stop off for a drink / meal if visiting Coalport, Ironbridge or Blisthill Museums.

If you want good value and a traditional break this is the place for you. All the staff are really helpful and make you feel as if you matter! The food is wonderful, but make sure you book a table as it is very popular - as proved by the amount of locals who use it. There is ample parking along the side, and it is close enough to walk to the Ironbridge attractions. The only thing to be aware of - NOT a criticism - this is a popular working pub and the rooms are over the bar, so although it is not really noisy there is a background hum during opening hours. Having said that, if you're staying here the chances are you'll be downstairs enjoying the atmosphere in the bar! (Access to rooms from the bar is via steep outside steps that may be slippery if it rains, there is another way using the garden access but not suitable for the disabled.) We only booked a short break and were truly sorry when it was time to come home, we're already discussing going back and recommending it to others.

have eaten here on numerous occasions and i can honestly say the Shakespeare never disappoints, the food is excellent and the portions are VERY GENEROUS!!

usually you need to book at least 2 weeks in advance which proves what a very popular place it is.
The only negative is that the parking isn't all that good but you have to bear in mind that coalport is a very old village and parking years ago wasn't an issue but please don't let that put you off,

Room Tip: The sizzlers are superb
