“Nice little place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 June 2014 via mobile

Vacation with family, one night stay. Nice little hotel with the friendliest staff. Big rooms (4 bed room), nice and clean bathrooms, beds alright. If you want breakfast remember to order the day before. Would definitely recommend to others.

Booked for 2 nights. Average service from reception at check-in. Room was very tidy. Sadly, the shower was a dribble - one of those domestic electrical jobbies. What's it with rubbish showers? Then, returned to hotel room on second day only to find it just as it had been left. Nothing made up, no complimentary refreshments replaced. Not best pleased. Probably wouldn't stay there again.

Quiet location with ample parking. A good sized room with decent, clean bathroom. I saw only one member of staff who was very polite, efficient and pleasant. I didn't have breakfast so can't comment on that. It's perfect for Gatwick Airport, value for money and a good place to crash for a night.

A word of advice. You cannot find this hotel without a satnav or mapping guide. It is tucked away in a housing estate along tight roads.

Stayed 2 nights 26 Dec 13 to 29 Dec 13.

The triple room was large and there was plenty of tea and coffee, nicely laid out, the room was slightly chilly on arrival but it soon warmed up with the additional heater and over night was more than adequate. The room was clean and so was the bathroom, the bedroom also had a separate area to sit with a table more than ample for two adults and a young teen.

Bathroom was a good size with over the bath shower and bath. The water was not hot but adequate it could probably do with a decent plumber giving it a service. Although this did not prevent us from having a shower every morning so not too bad.

Breakfast was enormous and hot with crispy toast.

Nice peaceful sleep and the area in general was quiet and I note that we stayed the same night as someone else who wrote a review - the difference was however we never heard the delivery's and noise they experienced. May be it just depends on which room you are in.

It is on a housing estate but very quiet and free parking unusual for this area as you normally pay.

Overall we would say: It is good value for bed and breakfast accommodation we did not eat any other meals there, on the menu in the room the pictures representing the different meals did look pre-prepared.

What I can say is that what we did eat at breakfast which was freshly made and they are very accommodating.

I don't think there is much else they can do to make you feel that you are welcome. Enjoyable stay overall.

Room Tip: Triple room top of the building on the right nice and spacious, comfortable if not a bit soft beds.

Stayed at Barrington Lodge one night, then booked a second. Lovely comfortable room, stylish with all modern amenities, at the best price possible. Free parking too (not common in Crawley!). The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was excellent and generous, full English and continental with all the extras. The thing that capped it off was the surprise at the gorgeous building this is! It dates back to the 14th Century, old timber framed building that retains a few internal features like original Tudor oak pannelled dining room (and one bedroom) and staircase. The rest is modernised. I stayed in a solo room which was very adequate and had a very comfy large single bed. The only disadvantage is it isn't so easy to find, you will need a satnav. It is not on main roads but you follow some minor roads through a housing estate and there it is in the middle. However, the parking being free compensates for this. I would say it's appropriate for business travellers, singles or couples/friends rather than a family or holiday location. Also, I didn't like the single lock on the door with the latch which could be opened by someone with a key while you were in if they felt like it. IE: you can't fully secure the room from inside with your own key and staff could potentially open it. That aside it is quick and accessible to get to Crawley town center or major roads once you have found it! Well worth the stay, and far exceeds the value and quality of something like Travelodge or Premier, I recommend!

The only good thing I can say about this hotel is the reception staff.

The rooms were disgraceful and I had a terrible episode with the owner when I met him in the restaurant.

He was rude, veeery unpolite and dirty.

Room Tip: Do not go.
