“Pictures don't do it justice”
Reviewed 22 November 2012 via mobile

Stayed on the 30th October before an early am flight and had paid for a nights stay and 2weeks car parking. Check in was slightly busy which is expected at 7pm at night. We were offered to upgrade our car Parking to call and deliver to the terminal which was fantastic!!! Well worth the £15 and saved us a lot of time on our way back. We ate in the restaurant downstairs which is pricy by expected at an airport hotel. The location of the hotel is so conveniently placed as the first hotel as you drive into gatwick and the shuttle was prompt and took 5minutes to the north terminal. Inside the hotel is modern with double glazing so we couldn't hear any planes or cars outside! the rooms were furnished to a great standard the pictures don't do it justice! Would definitely stay here again!

stayed here the night before an early flight, never again! the receptionist was surly, demanded a £50 charge "just incase" we used the restaurant or bar, not likely after reading the menu. The room was simple and certainly nothing worth writing home about, air conditioning worked but the windows dont open.
A word of warning if you have booked this hotel with car parking, they take your car away at 11pm and expect you to take your overnight bag with you, or pay an extra £15! We were going to egypt for 2 weeks, taking dirty laundry with us was not part of the plan.If we had booked the parking seperatley we would not have been charged the extra, Feel that the only thing that the hotel was interested was extracting as much money out of us as possible

I was more than pleasantly surprised with the Courtyard at Gatwick Airport. I felt like it could have been an actual Marrriott itself rather than it's lesser value little sister Courtyard. Stayed here the night before an early flight. The room was wonderful, very modern and spotlessly clean. The staff were very attentive. Had a wonderful meal in the hotel restuarant. There is a local bus which stops here every 20 mins and picks up for the airport at a cost of GBP 3 per person. Definately staying here every time I flight in or out of Gatwick airport.

Perfect location for one night layover from New York enroute to Malta. Rooms were well appointed though facing an inner courtyard so poor view. Pleasant restaurant for lunch, dinner and breakfast. Cold breakfast from 5:00am worked well for early departure.

Room Tip: Outward facing for better view.

Stayed here twice whilst flying from gatwick on holiday. On both occasions found hotel to be very good.
Staff at check in were very helpful and pleasant, first time we stayed we were not too keen on room given and this was changed with no problem and no fuss.Had free wi-fi in room on both occasions but think this was due to me being a marriott silver member.Used hotel car park for both nights, which at fifteen pounds per night is a bit steep.Saying that on return for second night stay car park fee was waived which was a nice gesture.
Used the room service for meals both times and found them to have a good choice. Both meals arrived in super quick time and of good quality.Had breakfast in restaurant on the mornings and also found it to be of good quality and plenty of choice of hot and cold items.
Rooms were clean and tidy and of a good standard.Beds were very big and comfortable which is the norm for marriott hotels anyway. Had outward facing rooms which were quite close to runway, but there was no significant aircraft noise as the room was well sound-proofed.
All in all a very nice stay. Will definately use again if in the area.

I arrived about 1045 and approached the reception to be greeted by a non smiley solo male. I asked if a my room was ready but was advised that there were rooms available but they would cost £56 to check in early because I had booked through a travel agent. This was the case. I know this because I was the travel agent that booked the room! I also mentioned that I was a Marriott rewards member but again because I booked through a travel agent, I was not entitled to any points. Civil courtesy would have been nice! Due to my job I travel the world regularly and wherever possible like to use a Marriott brand. This has put me off the hotel and I would not be able to recommend this hotel to any of my customers unless I could be assured that at least you could be welcomed with at least a hello and a smile when arriving regardless of the time of day. When I came back to the hotel later in the day, the receptionist was now a very friendly member of staff, so all is not lost!
The room was clean and tidy and typically Courtyard thank goodness.
The hotel is about 10 minutes walk from the south terminal and is clearly sign posted and is easy to get to. I believe there is a transfer bus at cost but I didn't use it.

This can be is handy if you have a very early flight. It's just a basic hotel, but walking to the terminal in the morning (it took us 10 minutes pulling our cases) was much nicer than dealing with traffic at 7AM. Do book in advance if you can: we paid about 80 pounds, but it must have been busy, as the rate for walk-in's when we arrived was nearly 200 pounds! The hotel is also very close to the car rental places; we dropped our car off before check-in to avoid having to pay for parking at the hotel. One interesting feature of this hotel is that the soundproofing is excellent. It is right next to the airport, but we slept soundly, and didn't hear any take-offs or landings.
