Courtyard London Gatwick Airport
Ranked #20 of 28 Hotels in Crawley
Reviewed 11 January 2014

I stayed here a week ago the night before flying off for a holiday with family. I was pleased with the one night stay and parking deal, and liked my room, although it did feel a bit claustrophobic as an internal room overlooking a breakfast bar. I presumed that was normal, however?
I ate at the restaurant, having an early dinner, and enjoyed my meal, plus the staff were really polite and attentive.
It is a pity they can't teach the reception staff how to behave, as although they were polite, it was frosty and curt, and I was not impressed, especially as they sent someone to my room having given him the wrong number, and when I informed them, there was a 'so what' attitude. This lets the hotel down! The other problem I had is that despite registering a hand written form, my dinner bill was completely the wrong address and post code, all except for my flat number. So not only not very personable but inefficient. The charge went through my card ok, just in case you're wondering, despite all.
My only other comment was the air conditioning - dreadful noise even when not in use. This seems to be a constant complaint so why not deal with it?
These details spoil what could be a very pleasant stay, so I hope someone will act upon these comments!

Well-located about 10 minutes walk from south terminal. We arrived late so the shuttle bus (which I think is to pay for) had stopped running. But a taxi for 4 including bags was only £10 and even though it was only 3 minutes drive the driver was happy. Nice rooms, efficient staff, quiet hotel with good breakfast. With the Hilton just down the road, LGW has two good hotels to choose from.

We spent the night at the Courtyard by Marriott as we had a very early flight to catch, It was dark, cold and raining when we arrived at the airport so ended up waiting for a while and taking the shuttle bus which is a bit of a scam at £3 per passenger (it's about 300 metres),

The hotel is fine for a night - the rooms are comfortable, reasonably priced and quiet. Wifi is a total rip off and food is rather expensive - better to buy in Marks and Spencer at the airport if you fancy a midnight snack.

Room Tip: We didn't make any special request and r=the room was very quiet although we left by 6 am.

Booked one night stay with parking through holiday extras. Check in ok; but they do insist on you entering your pin & pre authorising £50 against your room for anything you may want extra even when the room has been pre-paid and you cannot check in without doing this. You need to book the car in on a separate desk; but this was done quickly and without any hassle and the car was ready to collect again at the hotel upon our return with no problems. The room itself has modern décor with kettle, TV with pay to view movies, safe, nice toiletries in the bathroom; but no bath only a shower. I did like the night light in the bathroom as an added thought. We did use the 1lt bottle of water @ £3.50 in the room; but did note that you have to tell reception if you have not or you will be charged anyway. The mattress on the bed was ok for one night but not comfortable enough to sleep any more than that on it and there was no top sheet on the bed; as the room was roasting even with the temp. control turned down as low as possible we really found it hard to sleep and wished to throw off the duvet and just have a sheet.
You can have breakfast at the hotel; but they only offer a full buffet for £14.95 and nothing else. As we would only have eaten cereal and toast and there was no continental only option we opted to have breakfast in the airport instead.
If walking to the South terminal it is only around 10 mins; but if raining you can take the bus (£3 per person).
We would use this hotel again for a pre-flight hotel; but only if the price was competitive enough at the time of booking.

Everything about this hotel was great, clean comfortable and convenient but the food in the restaurant was outstanding. The steak and lamb were some of the best we have had in a hotel restaurant, yes it was pricey but worth it. The servers were also very good. Would recommend this hotel if you have a stop over at Gatwick.

This hotel is exceptional value compared to the other main hotel at the south terminal which we have stayed at twice. It's a very short walk to the terminal, in fact so short we actually walked to the terminal for dinner. You can access the south terminal through the Hilton which shortens the walk and adds a couple more dining options including their buffet. The south terminal land side has several restaurants and an M&S to pick up sandwiches, desserts etc...for you room. As well as a Boots pharmacy. The room was a great size and the bathroom was new and modern with a great shower, something that can be hard to find in English hotels. I highly recommend this hotel. One tip, I found the bed to be hard so I had another duvet brought up to sleep on, it made all the difference and I slept like a baby.

Room Tip: Go for the King room, it's worth the small upgrade.

We stayed here before an early morning flight as they offered a good deal on room and parking, the room was very clean and well equipped ( very good shower ! ) and we had a good night sleep. The restaurant served a very meal, cooked well, served hot and drinks reasonable. The one facility we really liked was for another £16.95 they deliver you car to the airport to meet you and after a long flight home this was brilliant. We will definately use this hotel again.
