“Nice room, good airport location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 July 2014

Booked at a great price and close as a stones throw from Gatwick Airport, this was a steal for 85 quid. Arrival and check in at the desk was a little longer than we'd expected, but everything else was good, staff were pleasant and helpful.

We went to our room and found it was spacious, clean and tidy. The bathroom was also big with plenty of hot water and an easy to use shower. An ice machine just outside the lifts was also handy to keep some drinks cold.

The dinner menu was perused and meals of larger size arrived and were all well received and tasty. The meal prices were probably a few quid more each than we'd been paying but for the sake of not having to go out and drive again, it was an easy choice.

The sleep quality was fantastic, I wish we'd had beds this good on our whole tour and soft pillows rather than some we've encountered.

Breakfast was great, full English breakfast or all your continental choices and as much or as little as you like all included in the price of the room.

Wi-Fi charges were the only thing I found rudely expensive at 14 quid, but we received complimentary access due to our wait at reception.

I was expecting noise and vibration from jets due to the airport being so close, but I only heard aircraft when I was outside, nothing from inside at all.

Would I stay here again? Not a problem - if you're flying out of Gatwick and get the same price room and breakfast deal, it's not hard to be at this hotel.

Room Tip: Didn't find any problems at all.

When I arrived I was told that the kingsize room I had booked wasn't available and would I be interested to changing to a twin double room instead. As I was travelling alone I said no as it didn't make sense and asked why my room wasn't available. Then as if by magic there was an empty king room. Following this I mentioned using the wifi in my room to which I was told there was a £12.50 charge per night!!

The room itself was nice however the walls were scuffed, the desk chair was falling apart and it needed a good vacuum.

Breakfast the next day again was disappointing, very greasy and is wasn't a fan of the dirty milk jug for my tea or the dirty salt and pepper pot.

Overall disappointing and overpriced!

We had booked 2 rooms here through Virgin Atlantic as we wanted to ensure that we were at the airport in time for our Orlando flight the next morning. Check in was courteous and efficient and the two rooms we had booked for myself and my daughters were interconnecting and of very high quality and well appointed. Dinner and breakfast were extremely good and, again, the waitress service was excellent. We had also arranged to leave the car in the care of the hotel parking service for the duration of our holiday and on the morning we returned it was already in the car park and we were on the road within ten minutes. Well done Courtyard Marriott!.

For less than it would normally cost to park at Gatwick while on holiday for one or two weeks, you can have a relaxing nights stay right at the airport in this hotel the night before you fly and get full parking included. The car even gets delivered to you right by the airport door and the whole process was so quick and efficient I could not have asked for more. The hotel is clean modern and comfortable and my onlt slight gripe is that the restaurants are bars are very expensive, however if you are able to avoid doing too much eating and drinking the deals on offer are excellent. Despite being right on the airport, withing walking of the south Terminal, noise levels were fine. There is a good shuttle service to take you to both terminals.

First impressions not so favourable on being greeted at the front desk by an immigrant worker whose English was not very understandable. Three attempts before we finally understood "Welcome to Marriot". Seems to be high influx of Eastern workers here.
Usual Marriot Hotel facilities and standards so we weren't disappointed in that respect. Hotel very quiet despite being under the flight path and high quality standards as usual. Everything very efficient from the parking point of view and the busses run approx. every 15 minutes or so.
Minus points are the charge for the airport bus of £3.00 per person which is a bit of a cheek as this is probably the only reason anyone would visit this hotel other than for airport convenience. Bar prices are outrageous as was the meal at the restaurant which, although enjoyable, did not justify the price.
We booked late, (hence we couldn't get our usual hotel) so got the room cheaper than normal but we won't be using this hotel again. We are regular fliers from Gatwick and there are good hotels in the area that we have used previously. Sorry, but I can't recommend Marriots on this occasion.

We had an overnight before catching a flight back to Canada. Good restaurant, rooms quiet in spite of under aircraft departure path. Only problem -charged again for room on credit card that was left to cover incidentals, even though we prepaid.

The hotel is nice and clean and the staff are friendly but when we went to eat at the hotel's restaurant, we had to wait 20 minutes before anyone even came to take our order. In the morning we decided to take the bus service to the airport and the prices were stated at £1.50 per child and £3 per adult which are outrageous prices anyway. We needed tickets for 2 adults and one child but we got charged 3 adult fares. I don't not know if the hotel has anything to do with the bus service or not. Apart from that, the hotel is in a very good location to get to the airport.
