“Good Hotel for spending a night at London Gatwick Airport”
Reviewed 27 November 2010

Just spent one night at this hotel. This hotel is just a couple of minutes waliking distance from the Gatwick South Terminal. There is a shutlle which runs every 15 minutes to the hotel and charges you two pounds 50 cents. This is the best to use if you have luggage. The hotel rooms are trendy, spacious and comfortable. There is internet but the same is chargeable. Ample in room movie options are available. The hotel has a bar which is right next to the reception. Try not picking a room near the elevator. Unfortunately, i had one right opposite the elevator and there was too much disturbance due to people coming and going all night. There is free parking available at the hotel. Overall a good transit hotel.

A very pleasant hotel, with a good "full English" breakfast. We walked to the terminal in the morning in under 10 minutes, having deposited our luggage with Virgin the night before, but this would be a difficult walk with more than hand luggage. The evening before we had taken a taxi from the terminal which had a minimum charge of £9 and I think it only took 2 minutes - a rip off - so try to arrange to travel in hotel courtesy bus.

Would stay here again

The Courtyard is well situated for either terminal with a shuttle bus seving both (£2.50 each adult). I chose this hotel because it had a reasonble deal for car parking included for up to 8 days.
The rooms are nice and well equipped. There were three staying in our room, there was a king size bed and a roll-away for the third person, it was a bit of a squeeze. If we had been staying for more than one night it would have been uncomfortable. If you,re looking forward to a bath after a long journey though you will be disappointed, showers only I'm afraid.
If you eat at the hotel the prices are fairly reasonable and the room menu has a good choice of food but, beware of the the duck & pancakes starter on the restaurant menu. One of my party chose this dish and was very disappointed with the lack of duck! The portion was literally just enough for a mouthful but there were 4 pancakes to spread the duck between. She managed to use two pancakes before running out of duck! Stick to the pate. The fish and chips could have been better too, the fish had been over cooked and had dried out. The waiting staff seemed to be overwhelmed and service was not as fast as I feel it should be.

The hotel is easily reached on foot from Gatwick Airport - just follow the signposts along the ten minute or so walk. It's all on flat pavements and we managed, even with quite a bit of luggage. Check in was swift and uneventful and we were soon in our comfortable room. Although it was a little on the small side, the room was perfectly adequate for an overnight pre flight stay.
We enjoyed a meal at the restaurant. There was a choice of an a la carte menu or an indian buffet, and we opted for the latter, whcih we thought was good value. The fish curry was very tasty indeed! Although we had to wait a while to be seated as the restaurant was very busy that night, once we were in the service was friendly and quick.
We had a very comfortable night's sleep and cheecked out in the morning feeling very relaxed. As airport hotels go, we found the hotel to be very good, but not particularly outstanding in any way.

The Courtyard at Gatwick is fairly typical of its type, with an added benefit of being recently renovated. The hotel is very clean, and the staff try their best to provide good service (although they can be short-staffed at peak times so it is best to allow spare time when checking out at 12pm).

We had booked a Junior Suite which was very spacious and not that much more than a normal room. The hotel is within walking distance of the airport and so quite easy to go into London by train. At night, the path is not very well-lit so a (somewhat pricey) taxi may be preferred.

All-in-all, would recommend it as a clean and decent place to rest before/after a flight

The Courtyard Marriott hotel is close enough to the South Terminal at Gatwick that it's not worth waiting/paying for the bus as it's only a 5 minute walk. Parking is easy - just leave the car in the car park and they park it off-site for you if you have the stay and park package. It was good value at £85 for 1 night + 14 days parking.
The rooms were nice. No bath, but a wall length shower.

This is the first time I have stayed in the Marriott and would use it again. It is clean, spacious, comfortable and I had a great nights sleep here. The check in was very quick and efficient at the car parking very easy.

I wouldn't eat here again as I sent the same £5 cold cheese and tuna melt back to the kitchen twice...it eventually came back micro-waved!! The only other change I would make is to take the 5 minute walk to the South terminal rather than wait for the bus.

The quality of sleep was a great start to a holiday.
