This hotel is fantastic, from the minute you walk through the door the warm welcome from staff, the room's are clean and bed's are one of the most comfortable bed's you could ever sleep in giving you a fab night's sleep before your holiday or work, food and all other aspects of the hotel are to high standard's and again the staff couldn't do more to help you.

Stayed here with partner and 2 friends on a Saturday night in March. Arrived on a domestic flight from Newquay into Gatwick North Terminal. Coming through arrivals we found the signposts to the Sofitel very easily and followed these through the car park/lifts etc to the hotel. Not a problem at all. Arriving at reception around 7.45pm there were 5 receptionists on duty and both rooms checked in within minutes. Very quick, easy and efficient. Atrium at hotel huge and very busy and the ease of being within minutes from the north terminal are fabulous. We were checked in within 20 minutes of getting off our flight!

Our rooms were on the 4th floor - used our keys to work the lift - again no problems. Rooms excellent, clean and everything you would need for 1 night stay. Beds superb and pillows brilliant! Rooms also very very quiet. Not overlooking runway but a car park.

We booked through Holiday Extras and for £70.00 for a room with no breakfast this was excellent value. Also booked a 2 course holiday meal for £10.00 pp. You get a voucher given to you at reception when youbook in. You cannot book a table but ask for one when ready and if they are busy they will come and find you in the bar. Only downside was that the bar prices very expensive. Vodka and tonic £7 and a bottle of cheapest rose £22.00. 1 pint lager £4.50. Be warned. Holiday menu had a choice of soup, goats cheese or garlic bread followed by burgers, pasta, fish and chips, veggie options. Very good food. Staff polite. Quite busy so we had a drink in the bar and then ate after that. Other restaurants Brasserie and Oriental one looked good - prices OK but think its the booze that raises the rates.

Express check out the next morning so we did not need to go to reception - just put our card keys in the box when we left.

Another 5 min walk to departures for our flight. We had checked in within 10 min which meant no hassle, no stress and a good start to the holiday. All in all very impressed and would definetely stay here again.

Would recommend highly if you get a good deal. M&S and Costa Coffee in North Terminal open 24 hours if this helps for cheaper food/drink options.

Stayed here before my early flight to Egypt as it was very convenient for the terminal ,(short walk maybe only 400 yds total but not all covered as with Heathrow T5 Sofitel), and also because I wanted to compare this one to the Sofitel at Heathrow Terminal 5. Bit mixed this one, the reception and the restaurant were very efficient and I found the set menu at the restuarant excellent for the price, but I did find the service a little frosty, especially from the doorman who seemed more interested in having a cigarette than actually greeting me when I asked how to get to reception, (the reception is actually on the 1st floor, they call this podium, and you walk in on the parking floor). I don't expect the full bowing and scraping but this was a bit dissapointing. Good, if expensive, bar though. Still a good hotel and I would stay again.

I've stayed in this hotel for 1 night as I was connecting to other flight day after. It was a huge surprise to see how good this hotel was, particulary as it was quite cheap.
Its a huge hotel, but you can't hear any noise or anything, rooms are big, well equipped, perfectly clean...Service was also very good, staff was friendly and helpful.
Can' tell you about the food as I didn't eat anything in the hotel. Also, very easy to get to the terminal - just 5 minutes walking, and no need to walk outside. Highly recommend!

I stayed at the Sofitel London Gatwick for 1 night in March with my husband and 19 month old as we had a very early flight. We booked directly through the hotel and got a good rate. We booked a package which included valet parking (Meteor) for 9 days. We chose this hotel for the location as we wanted to minimise the stress whilst travelling with a toddler.

We checked in late (around 9pm) but check in was quick and efficient. This was helpful as my son had fallen asleep on the journey to the airport and we needed to get him to bed as soon as possible.

We left our car in their car park and handed over our car keys at Reception. The hotel took care of everything else. We arranged for the car to be brought to the airport on our return from holiday.

The room was of a good size and the furnishings felt quite luxurious. A cot bed had been provided on request and was ready set up for us. The queen bed was really comfortable (pillow top mattress?). Shame we had to get up at 3am! There was a bit of outside noise but that was not a problem.

The hotel is across the road from North Terminal. We would've walked across via a covered walkway although this was closed for maintenance. It wasn't a problem as we just took the lift down to the ground floor and walked through the car park.

Pros:
Location
Efficiency
Comfort

Cons:
A bit expensive

We would definitely stay at the Sofitel again if flying from Gatwick North Terminal.

Like most other reviewers, we stayed here prior to a next day flight from the North Terminal.
Check-in was quick and painless, and our room, although not enormous, was, more importantly spotlessly clean. Bed was comfortable and we heard no outside noise.
Our only 'gripe' is about the extortionate cost of drinks [perhaps I'm out of touch]. The cost of one glass of white wine in the bar was almost twice the cost of a bottle of better white wine from the M&S in the terminal.
My advice - stay here but buy food and drink from M&S to eat in your room, and spend the money you save when you are on holiday!

I stayed at this hotel for a conference and was very impressed by the layout of the hotel. All of the rooms are situated around a huge atrium and I was lucky enough to have a room with a view into here instead of out to the car park which was nice. Check in and out was very efficient and my room was clean and modern with an iron and board which are sometimes hard to come across in other hotels. The breakfast was also very tasty.

My only gripes were that my room was extremely hot which made for an uncomfortable nights' sleep and the lifts were difficult to get to grips with as you need your room key to operate them. Still that must keep the hotel very secure which is a bonus. Drinks were also very expensive but luckily I wasn't paying! If i was flying out of the North Terminal I would definitely stay here again.
