“First choice for Gatwick flyer”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 August 2011

Travelling from Cardiff to Gatwick can be quite a hassle if you were to drive and fly the same day. My parents and I regularly travel to Orlando from Gatwick and the Arora Hotel Gatwick Crawley has been, and always will be our preffered place of stay for an overnight stop before flying out the next day.
We have stayed at the Arora for several years. Its reasonable prices and high standards ensure we always return. The hotel looks modern, the staff are polite and the rooms are clean. Staying at this hotel the night before the flight is the start of the holiday experience. I would recomend this hotel to every person - suitable for singles, couples, families, tour groups etc.
The prices for food are a little expensive but I guess that is what you pay for from a quality hotel near to Gatwick Airport.
The rooms have an electronic control for the air conditioning. You have to place a card in the slot to keep the a/c running. I find that you can put any old card in there, i use my Nectar card, to keep the room cool so you can leave the room with the room card and not have to worry about returning to a hot room! The bathrooms have a seperate shower cubicle and are very spacious.

The televisions are the old CRT type and should be repleced. The only clock in the room is on the TV - I would prefer to have a bedside clock.
The refridgerator is not cold enough at all.
Carpet rising in some hallways - potential trip hazard for disabled and elderly.

The hotel could improve by;
- Having ice buckets and colder fridge
- New televisions

Overall, very impressed with this Hotel and will definately return.

Room Tip: Always bring a dummy card (Nectar, library card etc) to keep the room's air conditioning running...

Stayed at the Arora twice now – both times before a morning flight (Christmas and Easter).

Experience in December was better as got to go in to the Jacuzzi/sauna/steam room but in April arrived too late in the evening and it didn’t open on time in the morning (so we didn’t have a chance because had an earlyish flight). Used park & fly package both times; this was fine and no problems with the car being looked after. However, the second time it was an 8-day parking package and this was loads more expensive than the 15-day package booked over Christmas. Not sure why.

Anyway, clean rooms and comfortable beds. Hotel-to-airport transport was quick and reliable.

We stayed one night either side of a holiday flying from Gatwick. We were originally booked at another hotel and switched to this one so it wasn't one we'd researched or knew very much about. It's a perfectly acceptable hotel, nice public areas. Only the Palm Deli doing sandwiches open after about 10pm so if you're arriving late eat first... also the courtesy bus to the airport doesn't run 24/7 so bear in mind the cost of taxis - roughly a £10 to get to the airport and £19 to get back with Gatwick Airport Cars (bit of a rip off really) - might be better to consider staying actually on the airport if you're flights are through the night. Helpful and friendly staff and for what we paid it was good value including the parking.

The hotel itself is not incredibly beautiful and doesn’t have unique and charming interior design. But it is value for money and very clean with kind staff and tasty food. We stayed for two nights and was happy with the friendliness of the staff. The room we stayed in was small, though the bed and bedding very comfortable. The decor was understated and business like. The bathroom looked new and was spotless, with glass shower screens and also a bath. We ordered room service which was available 24 hours and the service was prompt and food hit the spot. The english buffet breakfast was worth the extra we paid for it, you can eat a delicious array of breakfast treats to your heart’s content!

I have stayed quite a few times at the Arora on business and the night before I fly from Gatwick when I go on holiday. When flying I always opt for the overnight with meet and greet parking. This is a great option. The Hotel is very clean with very nice front desk staff. The Hotel is very quiet and what I love is they have anti slam doors. I would definately recommend this Hotel as an overnighter before flying

This hotel was lovely and started our holiday on a positive note. We did have a few problems finding it but when we did it was perfect. The room was spacious and comfortable and the bathroom was top notch with the best shower I think we've ever used

If I was looking for a negative it would be the drive to the airport the next morning as the traffic can be a little bothersome but this is the only downside I can think of. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking to book a hotel the night before their travel

We did not eat there so cannot comment about the food but the service from the front desk was very good

We stayed here for one night on a park and fly package, leaving car for 15 days while we were on holiday. Lovely hotel, good service. Has a good spa free for guests.
Will stay here again. Taxi to LGW was only £9, journey back from Gatwick was twice as much as there is only an upmarket car service which has the monopoly. Good place to stay prior to holiday as we were able to good out and have a decent dinner in Crawley.
