Description: We are a new independent restaurant, owned by three friends who want to bring you a truly special culinary experience, almost making you believe that you could be sitting in Taormina, Sicily and not in Crawley. Our menus are traditional Sicilian fare, which include a wide selection of fish dishes, thus moving away from the trendy chain restaurants we will introduce you to a friendly new restaurant experience where it's all about our customers being content. Of course there are some traditional Italian dishes that should never be replaced and we will always try to accommodate our customer's desires where possible. We look forward to introducing you to Taormina Restaurant's stylish and relaxed ambience very soon. Arrivederci

“A popular Italian in Crawley”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 June 2014

Whilst staying at Gatwick airport we had eaten here a year ago when it was Da Peppino. It has since changed hands and is now called Taormina. We arrived at 8 pm on a Saturday having pre-booked. The restaurant was extremely busy and had only four serving staff who appeared rushed off their feet. It took quite a while to order although luckily we weren't in any hurry. Our starters, Bufala e Asparagi and Melanzane Parmigiana, were delicious. These were followed by Pollo Funghi and Fegato alla Veneziana both very good although the liver was a tad over cooked. After a long gap we managed to be tempted by the dessert trolley. The lemon cheesecake and the cannoli siciliana were excellent. The staff were very friendly but service would have been better with at least one extra pair of hands.

We were looking to for a bite to eat as we were staying in a local hotel the day before we flew out to Taormina so when we saw the name of this restaurant it's was a must really.
Very good food lots to choose from friendly staff lovely white linen table cloths very smart.
I would defiantly recommend this restaurant very busy too and lots of locals which I thought must say something.
I had squid to start followed by linguini delicious !....

“Very friendly staff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 May 2014

We went here for a wedding and had our own DJ. Plenty of food .......different pizzas , best one is the meat one, had spaghetti and meat balls and more pasta parcels very good , we couldn't eat it all. The staff even join into the party mood and we ask them to dance with us even the chef........The Italian staff were fantastic and nothing was too much , even when a few of the party got fairly drunk.

“Amazing find in Crawley”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 May 2014

Fabulous meal, excellent service, try the Steak, and the profiteroles, both my favourites. My wife's food was excellent too. We sat near the back and saw the food passing, all looked and smelt delicious, really good choice of fish, and other Italian dishes. My wife & I had a fabulously relaxed time, and all reasonably priced.

Couldn't fault it! Should be one of the most popular restaurants in Crawley, it is in a different class to most of the others in town.

“Overbooked and understaffed”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 May 2014

We booked a table for 15 family and friends to celebrate our daughter's 30th birthday. We were advised that another party of 26 was also booked in but I was assured that they could cope. Unfortunately another two largish parties and a few couples were also in evidence when we arrived as well as other diners let in during the evening. This meant that the wait for our main meal was over two hours! Some of the party that didn't have a starter had to wait for three hours to eat - this is not acceptable. The staff were very apologetic but it did ruin our evening. The other party were served on time so we can only assume that their dining experience was of more importance that ours! I would hesitate to go back to the restaurant now. Some of the party had never eaten there before and have stated they will not do so again based on this experience. This is a shame as previous meals have been fine, but I feel that greed got in the way of our daughter's celebration, which despite a couple of bottles of free wine can never replace the meal we sought to celebrate her birthday.
